Robert Matheson was in charge of the regular church service the last Sun- day in the Season of Epiphany or Transfiguration Sunday. The children's story was en- titled "This Is For Real". The Scripture was read from Ex- odus 24:12, 15-18, I Corin- thians 12:41-13:13, Matthew 17:1-9. The sermon was entitled "Vantage On Faith". Every human being suffers from our down moments "We have those days when we are depressed - sometimes for no real reason we can think of. Mid winter is actually one time people suffer most from depression. It may have something to do with the shortness of the days - the lack of sunlight and any student can link depres- sion to the winter exam timetable. Yet all three of our scripture lessons give us a better vantage on view as to what human life ought to be for the Christian. In Exodus •24 when Moses brings the Ten Command- ments down from the moun- tain, we are shown that God cares about our lives, who we are, who we are to become, our welfare and that there should be order in the world. Later, Paul writes to the Christians in Corinth about the love of God at a point in I Corinthians Paul's readers are likely to anticipate a lec- ture on the wrath of God. Jesus went up a .mountain prior to his crucifixion. His disciples: Peter, James and John saw Jesus transfigured - saw Jesus in conversation with Moses and Elijah. Yet Jesus returns to work among people and our human situations. The Youth Group will meet Sunday evening March 11 at 7:30 p.m. in Thames Road Church. Dashwood men's club host area farmers By MRS.
