Leviticus 19 tells us to love our neighbours as we love ourselves. This passage was one quoted by a man trying to trap Jesus with the question "Who is my neighbour?" In Matthew 5:38-48 Jesus continues the Sermon on the Mount speaking of human relationships. He tells us to change our ways regarding retaliation - the mentality of an eye for an eye and so on.
