After the dishes were finished Rev. Robert Matheson called the meeting to order and was appointed chairman. Mrs. Gerry Morgan was appointed secretary. Rev. Robert Matheson opened the meeting with prayer. The minutes of last year's meeting were read and adopted. it was decided to carry on Sunday School the way it has been, January, February and March at 10 a.m. and the rest of the months at 11:15 while church is on. Brian Miller is one of the new Board of Managers. The retiring ones are Don Richardson and Bob Stone who moved away last fall. The remaining ones are Barry Jeffery, Gerry Morgan, Robert Bray and Larry Dawson. The members of Session re- main the same; Clerk, Mur- ray Dawson, Mrs. Lorne Ballantyne, Ross Ballantyne, Ted Kernick, William Rohde, and Mrs. Floyd Stewart. All reports were well received. Church service Rev. Robert Matheson led in worship at the fifth Sunday efter the Epiphany church Make r`. -Your Love Blossom with service on Sunday morning. Miss Agnes Bray was at the piano for the hymns and music. The children's story was en- titled "Is Light Important". Rev. Matheson had a lamp to help explain the story. He covered the lamp with a bag asking if you could see the light shining through. The Scripture Lesson was read from Isaiah 58:5-12, 1 Corin- thians 2:1-5 and Matthew 5:13-16. The sermon was entitled "Seasoned Christians." Personals Barry J. Miller returned home Sunday from Seaforth Community Hospital after having been a patient there for almost three weeks. Pat Connolly is a patient in the same hospital. Get well wishes are extended to both. Mrs. Muriel Miiler, London spent a few days recently at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Barry J. Miller. Miss Jane Hewitt left on Saturday after visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Cann and Brad for five weeks. Her home is in Australia. Mr. and Mrs. Robert McDonald, Exeter, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Faulhafer of Stratford visited Saturday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Don Richardson. Mr. and Mrs. Doug Rohde, Karen and Kathy, Exeter visited Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. William Rohde. The Youth Group will meet Sunday evening February 12 at 7:30 p.m. at Elimville. Happy Gang plays euchre 0y ALICE DICKENS Ailso Craig Six tables of euchre were in play at the Happy Gang seniors in the town hall on Wednesday afternoon. Win ners were, high, Lorraine Neil, Gertie Hodgins; lone hands, Marjorie Steeper Jessie Lewis; low Jenny Har tle and Myrtle Turner. More euchre on February 15. There were 11 tables in play at West McGillivray hall Fri- day night when Lola Allison, Myrtle Ross and Lorraine and Roland Neil hosted the care party. Winners were ladies high, Eileen Hodgins, lone hands, Nora Ross, low, Jessie Lewis. Men's high, Joe Carter, lone hands, Jack Hamilton, low George Cunningham. . Next euchre is February 17 with Jack and Evelyn Trevithick, Jack Hamilton and Bloss Pepper as hosts. For all euchre players (men are welcome) plan to attend a dessert euchre at the Activity Centre, February 13 at 1:15 p.m. sponsored by the Craigwiel Activity Centre committee. On Friday evening (February 17) three films will be shown at the Craigholme Auditorium. • A number of adults enjoyed a variety of games in the Ac- tivity Centre last Wednesday evening. Following this, lunch was served by the Activity Centre committee. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Bice, Mitchell visited Sunday with his mother, Mrs. Ida Bice, Cra igholme. Friends, neighbours and relatives showered baby Jeff Ross, infant son of Jim and Debbie Ross with lovely useful gifts at the Activity Centre on Sunday afternoon. Debbie, in her usual plea- sant manner, thanked everyone for their kindness, and to the group who planned the baby shower. Lunch was served. Kirkton WI meets Sy MRS. HAROLD DAVIS Kirkton Women's Institute held their January meeting January 26 at Kirkton- Woodham Community Centre. The meeting opened with the Institute Ode, Mary Stewart Collect. The roll cail "Something my mother taught me". Verna Blackler and Elaine Stephen had as their speaker Janet McLellan of St. Marys. Her topic "Coupons". People should use coupons as the sellers spend a lot of money for this advertising, but in return a small amount of coupons are redeemed. Janet had a couple of contests for us. Institute president Christine Eveleigh has three banquest to cater to over the next three months. Lunch was served by the group in charge. .1 Birthday parties in Shipka area Sy MRS. HUGH MORENZ An enjoyable dinner party was held January 28 at Arnold Keller's home, when Mr. Keller and his daughter, Audrey Gibson, celebrated their birthdays, which are I•oth on the same date of .'anuary 30. Also celebrated was Roy ind Audrey Gibson's 34th wedding anniversary. Others attending were Larry and Sharon Gibson, Peter and Tina, RR Lucan, David Gib- son and friend, and Janet and John of Crediton and Marion Feltz and son Terry, of Brinsley called for a little visit. A special phone call came Sunday from Mark Gibson, in Mayerthorpe Alberta, to wish his grandpa and mother hap- py birthday and anniversary greetings to his parents. Ferman and Leota Snyder visited Sunday afternoon, in Sarnia, at his brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Snyder, and stayed for supper with them. Corporal Cindy Desjardine, daughter of Willis and Ella Desjardine, returned recent- ly to Camp Borden, from Westwind in Winnipeg, where she has been stationed this past couple of years. Gloria, Kevin and Dwight Beierling, visited Saturday with the boys' grandparents, Howard and Joyce Adkins, of Zurich area. Ken and Ortha Baker travelled to Thamesville, Saturday and they accom- panied Ortha's brother and wife, Orval and Mae Schilbe to Detroit, where they visited with Sandra and Tony Regier, Chris, Heather and Jillian. Mrs. Emma Schilbe Zurich who had beed holidaying for a month in Florida, flew up to Detroit, and came home with the Baker's and Schilbe's on Sunday. A reminder of the euchre party to be held here tonight February 8 at the Communi- ty centre, weather permitting. GGive...
