Always remembered by your wife Molly. 2• Mohawks win The Exeter Mohawks over- came an early 2-0 deficit enroute to a 9-5 victory over the Parkhill Pirates in South Huron hockey league action Thursday night at the South Iluron Rec Centre. In a very physical game Brian Mercer led the Mohawks in a scoring way with three goals and two assists while Brian Taylor and Mark Cronyn each chip- ped in with a pair of scores. Single goals were notched by Jim Guenther and Jeff Fuller. The Mohawks have the top three scores in the league with Brian Mercer on top with 18 goals and 35 assists for 53 points. Mark Cronyn is se- cond at 28 goals and 23 assists for 51 points and Brian Taylor is the leading scorer with 29 goals. He also has 15 assists for 44 points. The Mohawks now 13-1-1 in league play meet the Cen- tralia College Saints tomor- row night, Thursday at the South Huron Rec centre at 8:30 p.m. Their only loss of the season was to the Saints. Dick and Annie Zielman, Deb and Angie, Ruth and friend Jerry Zehr, attended a delayed Christmas gathering, Sunday for dinner, at Susan Janzen's home in Leam- ington. Others attending were Mrs. Helen Stadler, Bill and Ellen Janzen, Craig, Stephen and Jamie, of Leamington. The Zielman family were supper guests at their daughter's home, Susie and Wayne Robson and Colin, in Essex. A reminder of the euchre party to be held here tonight at the Community Centre, January 11 (weather permitting). William (Bill) G. Latta, of London, passed away at University Hospital, London, on January 4. He is survived by his wife Iva (Pickering) Latta, one son Gerald of Ailsa Craig. Mr. Latta was born and raised on the 19th conces- sion of Stephen township. Funeral service was held Saturday with interment at Grand Bend cemetery. Pallbearers were five brothers-in-law, Ross, Ken, Jim and Glen Pickering all of Shipka, Don Pickering, of Hyde Park, and Gerald Lat- ta, of Ailsa Craig. Flowerbearers were grand- children Lianne and Trevor Latta, Earl Pickering, Grand Bend and Leonard Pickering of London. Personals Garry Baker returned home Wednesday on an Air Canada flight, after a three week holiday in Edmonton, for Christmas and New Years with his sisters Nancy and Donna Baker. Nancy accompanied Garry on side trips to Lake Louise, Calgary and at Banff they went swimming in the hot springs. Also a stop at Sulphur mountain and a ride in a gondola lift. Good books in Crediton By MRS. PETER MARTIN Saturday the Crediton public library was a busy place. A good selection of books for young and old are on the shelves. New books have been arriving since ear- ly fall and the old.books have been discarded or taken to Goderich archives. A good selection of romance stories, western adventure and non-fiction await the reader. Children can read about computers, trains, planes and adventure on the high seas. Dr. Suess and Richard Scarry books help to educate your youngster. The library is open Satur- days from 1:30 - 4:30 and Tuesdays from 3:30 - 4:30. The library is in the town hall and Mrs. Fydenchuk will be pleased to secure any special requests you may have. See you next Saturday at the library. Varna Lodge plays euchre By Mary Chessell There were nine tables in play at the Orange Lodge euchre on Friday evening. High and low prizes for ladies went to Jaqui Taylor and Jessie Godbolt, for men, Frank Thompson and Jim Boyce. Draw winners were Anna Wilson, Margaret Hayter, Jessie Godbolt, Ruth Johnston and Margaret Elliot. The January meeting of Varna UCW was held in Margaret Hayter's home with Joanne Beierling, Mary Ostrom and Maureen Hayter on the committee. Sixteen members were present. President Bernice Reid open- ed the meeting with a short meditation and prayer. Thyme of the worship was farewell to the old year and a happy new year.
