In their first game, the boys

points.
The Panthers did not fare
as well in their next Saturday
game. They met a strong
team from Petrolia slid came

In a previous match, South

about a 20 point spread. The

points in the Parkhill game as
well.
Friday the team played a
less successful game in Strat-
ford. Centre John Mol was in-
jured in the match and had to
leave the game. Quite a few
similar disasters took place in
the game and South Huron's
performance was far from its
usual calibre. The Panthers
lost the match by five points.
The team will continue its
busy week with a game at
Seaforth today and a Friday
game at Listowel.
The Zurich Buckeyes
scored a pair of victories this
week in the South Huron in-
termediate hockey league.
The Buckeyes downed the
Parkhill Pirates 7-2 Sunday
afternoon and edged the Cen-
tralia College Saints 7-5, Mon-
day night.
Three straight third period
goals from the stick of Rick
Moody clinched Monday's
Buckeyes' win. Pete Gil
assisted on all three Moody
scores while Steve Languille
and John Dowson each helped
on one score.
In the first period, Pete Gil
notched the first Zurich score
on a three-way passing com-
bination with Moody and
Dowson and Languille hit on
an unassisted effort.
The only CCAT goal of the
opening session was fired by
Rod Robinson with passing
help from Paul Wilson and
Steve Sage.
In the second period, Scott
Consitt scored two goals for
the Buckeyes with Pete Gil
and Rick Moody helping on
both. Jamie Dewar scored for
the Saints on an unassisted
dash.
In addition to Moody's hat
trick in the third period, Rod
Robinson, Steve Sage and
Rob Deloyer counted for the
College. Sage picked up two
assists and Wade Gidler
assisted on one.
Sunday's game in which the
Buckeyes beat the Pirates 7-2,
the home Zurich club broke
the game wide open with tA4o

the final three in the closing
session.
Jeff Kelterborn of the
Pirates opened the game
scoring at 2:19 on a pass from
George Jongeneel and three
minutes later, Wayne Thiel
tied the score for the
Buckeyes on a three-way
passing combination with
Pete Gil and Scott Consitt.
Near the midway mark,
Ron Rader shot the Zurich
club ahead on a successful

the initial period, Ron
Mathers hit the Zurich net on
passes from Jeff Kelterborn

Volleyballers look promising
South, Huron's girls
volleyball teams are looking
forward to a promising
season after a successful start
in Mitchell on Monday, Both
seni011 and juniors won their
four games.
The senior team, coached
by Joe Fulop, were not easy
victors over mediocre teams
from St. Marys (16-14, 15.11)
and Clinton (15-6, 15-11) .
With many first year senior
players the adjustment is
slowly being accomplished.

Two fare well
in badminton
Two members of the South
Huron badminton club placed
well in an OBA tournament in
Stratford on the weekend.
Kendra Arthur turned in the
best results of any area
player, past or present.
Angelina Malik improved her
ranking as well.
The two SHDHS students
have done well in school play,
winning WOSSA last year.
Kendra was second in the
under 16 singles in Western
Ontario, an area that stret-
ches from Windsor to
Hamilton, including many big
cities, Her victor is ranked in
the top 10 in Ontario but Ken-
dra took her to three games.
Angelina, in her first year
as a senior, lost in the semi-
finals.
Requesting a partner, Ken-
dra Arthur played in mixed
doubles. Adjusting to the play
of an unaccustomary partner
they managed second place.
The girls will compete in
the Ontario championships in
Stratford, February 4.

new offensive plays that will
be definite assets in tough
games such as the seniors will
have had to encounter last
night against Stratford Cen-
tral and Madill.
The seniors are a strong
spiking team with Faye
Gaiter, 'Charlene Verbeek,
Irene Brand and Diane Willis
pounding them down.
Reversing last year's
results the junior team had
little difficulty defeating St.
Marys and Clinton with
decisive scores of 15-1, 15-12
and 15-12, 15-7.
Coach Pat Rowe stuck with
her starting lineup to gain
these victories. Tournament
play on the weekend prepared
the juniors with the needed
experience for league play.
Winning three of their seven
matches, Rowe felt her
players became overconfi-
dent after their three initial
wins. The tournament hosted
many Southwestern Ontario
towns.
After Tuesday's league
tournament at Stratford Cen-
tral there is no league play
until February 2 when South
Huron hosts the eleven team
tournie.
The end of February layoffs
see the top 10 teams of Huron -
Perth's 11 team conference
after the five league tour-
naments. South Huron's
seniors and juniors with Mon-
day's wins are assured of a
playoff spot.

HOW CAN I MAKE KNOWN MY FUNERAL
PREFERENCES?
Usually your preferences can best be mode
known by your pre -planning some or all of the
funeral service with a funeral director.
If you feel reluctant to give "instructions" to
your family, you might make a list of
preferences and suggestions covering your
wishes. We have simple forms which will help
guide you as you fill them out.
After completing the forms which entail no
obligation on your part, then advise your family
about your preferences and where you will
keep the Pre -Plan Form.
We find people have a greater ease of mind
once this is done, just as after filling a will or
setting up an insurance program. It takes a
load off the family later on and it makes sure
your preferences will be respected.
There are many choices and options in pre-
planning. You would be well-advised to discuss
them with your funeral director. We will be
glad to explain your options in detail. To help
you reach an informed decision, we can also
give you some reading material for your study.
