There will be no more
euchre parties until after the
holiday season. They will
resume again on January 11.
The north group were in
charge of lunch refreshments.
Several folks attending the
euchre were celebrating
December birthdays and the
euchre players sang "Happy
Birthday" to them.

Tiger Times
from
Stephen Central
Merry Christmas from
Tony Tiger. The primary divi-
sion have been busy with
many interesting activities. I
hope you enjoy their stories.
What Christmas is to Me -
Kindergarten. Presents. Can-
dy canes. Jesus' birthday.
Give and get presents.
Decorate a tree. Sleep when
Santa comes. Like Nannies
and daddies. Christmas tree
inside house. Love Jesus.
Christmas tree. Give presents
to your friends. Celebrate.
Love Santa. Decorations on
wall. Stars on tree. Get
oranges from mom and dad.
Cookie Decorating by
Room t2 - This morning we
decorated Santa Gingerbread
cookies. First we made the ic-
ing. We needed butter, milk,
and icing sugar. We mixed
and stirred until it was
smooth and thick. Then we
put some different food col-
ours in the icing bowls. We
had to stir some more. Then
we spread it on the cookies.
We used trimmings from
home to decorate our cookies.
We let them sit so that the ic-
ing could get firm. We got so
hungry that we had to eat
-them at lunch time. We took
some time to write the recipe
in our Language Arts Book.
Poetry by Room 9 - The
Garfields studied the poem
"In a Dark, Dark Wood."
They each wrote their own
poem something like it. The
whole class wrote a poem
called "In a Big, Big Town".
They used the computer tape
Storywrlter to write it and
print it.
"In a big, big town there was
a big, big house.
And in that big, big house
there was a big, big kitchen.
And in that big, big kitchen
there was a big, big stove.
And in that big, big stove
there was a big, big oven.
And in that big, big oven there
was a big, big gingerbread
man.
And on that big, big,
ginger bread man there
were big, big raisins.
And underneath one of the
big, big raisins, there was a
big, big Heart of Sugar."
Wheels by Room 9 - We
have been studying wheels in
Science. We saw a filmstrip,
and a video tape called "Mov-
ing a Hippo." We used a
string to measure how wide
the wheel was, and how far
around the wheel was. We
measured a car wheel, a trac-
tor wheel, toy car wheel, and
Mr. Jim's wagon wheel.
Gears are wheels with teeth.
We found some in a watch, a
clock, a pencil sharpener and
a music box.
Then we made our own
vehicles out of wood. We
brought the wood from home.
Ms. Thomson cut the wheels
from wood. We connected the
wheels to axles. We got the
headlights, tops, sirens, cabs
and steerings wheels on with
glue. Doug Jones like the ac-
tivity
ctivity because he likes nailing
and putting cars and trucks
together. Elizabeth Russell
liked it because it was the
first time she had done it, and
Carla Taylor likes working
with wood.
The Wizard of O,. by Room
9 Tuesday, Lecember 13 the
South Huron Secondary
School drama troupe came to
Stephen. They put on the
Wizard of Oz for the Primary
students. The students made
most of the costumes. The tin
man's suit and the lion's
costume were rented because
they couldn't make them.
They used a stuffed dog for
Toto. The prompter played
the piano, made sure the ac-
tors didn't miss a line, and she
barked to make it sound like
Toto. Th, mean witch
screamed a lot and scared
some of the kids. The Drama
teacher was Pat Quigley.
Tracy Riley !!ked the play
because the good witch
helped Dorothy get back to
Kansas.
