A large gathering of ladles
attended the annual and
Christmas meeting of the
Cromarty Ladies Aid, held in
the basement of the church
which was nicely decorated
December 5.
Special guest for the even-
ing was Steve Hildebrand,
Seaforth, who demonstrated
the art of creating beautiful
floral and evergreen ar-
rangements for the holiday
season. Everyone enjoyed a
question period and Steve
donated a corsage and table
centre for a draw which were
won by Mrs. Robert Laing
and Mrs. Clifton Miller.
Jean Carey presided
welcoming everyone and
opening with a short
Christmas story. Mrs. Tom
Scott gave the devotions, tak-
ing her scripture reading
from Luke and basing her
devotions on her scripture.
Roll call was answered with
a Christmas memory or
decoration.
Mrs. Laing gave a
Christmas reading. Carol
singing was enjoyed with
Mrs. John Scott accompany-
ing on the piano. Interesting
reports were given by the ex-
ecutive and committees
showing a very productive
year for the Ladies Aid.
Everyone was the recipient
of a small gift from the
Christmas table and lunch
was served by Mrs. Jim
Miller and Mrs. John
Templeman.
Officers for 1984 are: presi-
dent, Mrs. Jean Carey, vice-
presidents, Mrs. Jim Miller,
Mrs. Philip James, secretary,
Mrs. Tom Scott, assistant
secretary, Mrs. Eldon Allen,
treasurer, Mrs. John Miller,
assistant treasurer, Mrs.
Charles Douglas, pianist,
Mrs. Jean Carey, flower com-
mittee, Mrs. Carter Kerslake
and Mrs. Clifton Miller.

mittee, Mrs. Calder McKaig
and Mrs. Jim Miller, cards,
Mrs. John Templeman, shut-
in boxes, Mrs. Hazel Har-
burn, Mrs. Eldon Allen, Mrs.

Mervin Dow, Mrs. Tom Scott,
Mrs. Jim Miller, Mrs. Robert
Laing, representative to
managers, Mrs. Tom Scott,

Members of the Staffa
Women's Institute enjoyed a
Christmas dinner December
6, served by the Glen Cowrie
Women's Institute in the
Township hall, Staffa. Follow-
ing dinner Mrs. Lloyd Miller
presided for the meeting.

Special guest was Mrs.
Craig Kerslake who
demonstrated how to make a
cone and nut wreath.
Members found this most in-
teresting and Mrs. Kerslake
graciously donated a wreath
for a draw which was won by
Mrs. Lloyd Miller.
Mrs. Miller opened the
meeting with the Institute
Ode and Mary Stewart Collect
and a poem "Christmas Pro-
mises". A carol sing was en-
joyed with Mrs. Robert
McCaughey accompanying
on the piano.
Each member was to sing,
say or pay for the roll call and
this proved interesting with a
varied program.
During business it was
decided to have secret pals
again for 1984. Mrs. Miller is
to contact, Riverside Nursing
Home regarding any needs
they may have.
The date of the dessert
euchre was changed from
February 14 to March 12 in
the Township hall.
Mrs. Bert Daynard
presented the handyman's
hint on food poisoning. Secret
pals were revealed as gifts
were distributed from around
the tree. Punch and cookies
were served by Mrs. Charles
Douglas.
At time of writing Robert
McCaughey had been a pa-
tient in Seaforth Community
Hospital, but is now home
again.
Mr. and Mrs. Rob
Templeman, Carrah and Cain
visited recently with Mr. and
Mrs. Royden Ritz and family,
Kitchener and Sunday were
guestsof Mr. and Mrs. Alec
Scott and Eric.
Auxiliary meets
The Marian Ritchie Even-
ing Auxiliary's Christmas
meeting opened with
Christmas carols with Mrs.
Ivan Norris at the piano. Mrs.
John Templeman gave the
call to worship and all joined
in singing a favourite carol.
Devotions and meditation
based on Love was taken by
Mrs. Alex Miller, Mrs. Philip
James, Mrs. Robert Laing
and Mrs. Duncan Scott with
prayer by Mrs. John
Templeman. Thirteen
members and six visitors
were present answering the
roll call with a verse on
Peace.
For her special number
Mrs. Philip James introduced
Joyce Fell, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Lorne Fell, who
delighted everyone with two
piano selections, "Marching
Thirds" and "Jingle Bells".
Also two violin solos, "Joy To
The World" and "The First
Noel".

have weekly quiltings at the
Family Life Centre this
winter but would help quilt at
a members home if asked.
A carol sing was enjoyed
and a smorgasbord lunch
completed the evening.
