Ladles Aid
Zion Lutheran church
Ladies Aid held their
Christmas and annual
meeting December 13. There
were 39 members and
husbands or a friend sitting
down to a catered to turkey
supper. Arnold Becker had
the lucky plate.
President, Mrs. Florence
Martene presided for a
business meeting. The yearly
reports were given. Dues
were paid. Conveners gave
the activities of their group.
The Alter Guild reported 15
visits, six treats, three phone
calls. The new Guild is Mrs.
Earl Keller and MIs. Ray
Rader. The meetings for
January, February and
March will be at 2 p.m.
Cards of thanks and dona-
tions were received. A letter
from our sponsored seminary
student was read. A poinset-
tia will be purchased for the
altar.
Mrs. Dave Rader gave the
report of the nominating com-
mittees. The officers are;
president, Mrs. Florence
Martene; vice-president,
Mrs. Alma Genttner;
secretary, Mrs. Fray Rader;
Treasurer, Helet Nadiger;

MR. AND MRS. MIKE DESJARDINE
Jo -Dee Darlene Steele and Michael Everett DesJardine
exchanged marriage vows September 17, 1983 at St.
Luke's in the Garden with Rev. Eitel Lindenburger per-
forming the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Gerald Steele of London and the groom is the
son of Mrs. Phyllis DesJardine of Grand Bend and the
late Everett DesJardine. Matron of honour was Paula
Seredo and bridesmaids were Debbie Steele and Diane
Kadlecik. The flower girl was Letisha Steele. The best
man was Rick Moody and ushers were Scott Green and
Jamie Steele. The ringbearer was Bryce Kadlecik. The
couple are now residing in Exeter.

reported that the visiting
committee had sent a
Rehekahcoffee mug and a get
well card to Norm Whiting
and Cathy Mugford received
a get well card while in South
Huron Hospital. Rita Morley
was reported to be in St.
Joseph's Hospital.
A syrppathy card was sent
to Doreen Browning.
Junior Past Noble Grand
Audrey Rowe reported the
Humanitarian Services Com-
mittee donated ;100 to the
Albert St. flume in Exeter
and the committee would be
delivering gift boxes to stlut-
ins this week. Audrey also
remarked on the Oddfellows
and Rebekah float that was
entered in the Santa Claus
parade. 1t won the prize for
the "best theme". The float
depicted the nativity scene
and it was done very well.
Birthday wishes were sung
for Sisters Celia Thomson,
Vera Pincombe, Lena
Kirkland and Almira Ford.
Christmas r.•adings were
given sincerely and
humorously by Alice Bowen,
Mavis Atthill, and Lois
McF'alls. Christmas carols
were sung by everyone and
Sister Elaine Skinner sang
"Christmas" accompanied by
Jean Hodgert at the piano.
Santa arrived at the end of
the evening to distribute gifts
and everyone enjoyed punch
and cookies
Services at
Clandeboye
There will be a Christmas
Eucharist and message in St.
James Anglican church 'at
7:30 p.m. on ('hristmas Eve.
There is no service on Sunday
December 25 at St. James
Service in Clandeboye
United Church has been
cancelled for Christmas Day.
The congregation is invited to
attend Christmas Eve service
and communion in Lucan
United Church al 7 p.m. also
Christmas Day service at 9:30
A.M.
There will be no news from
Clandeboye next week.
Christmas visitors will he too
numerous to mention.

Men's Club
The Dashwood men's club
held their Christmas meeting
with wives as guests at
Dashwood Community Cen-
tre. There were 56 members
and guests and eight new
members enjoying a turkey
dinner. Following dinaer a
short meeting was held.
Guest speaker, Miss Linda
Finkbeiner spoke on dif-
ferent ways of wearing a
scarf.
Euchre was played with
winners, ladies high, Mrs.
Ray Rader; ladies low, Mrs.
Michael Tieman; men's high,
Michael Tieman; low, Victor
Hartman.
Santa Claus arrived in
Dashwood Saturday after-
noon compliments of the
Dashwood Men's Club. About
200 children enjoyed
chocolate milk, a pack of can-
dy and an. orange. They saw
two films, enjoyed a magi-
cian, Santa Claus and a sing
song of Christmas Carols.

portable stereo radio. Win-
ners in the 50-50 draw were
Brian Hicks, Greenway; Or-
tha Baker, Dashwood and
Labelle Topping, London.

Calvary United Church
U.C.W. met December 13 with
Mrs. Mervyn Tieman's group
in charge. A program of sing
songs, Christmas stories and
choir singing was presented.

St. Paul's Church held their
annual Christmas dinner and
entertainment Sunday follow-
ing the morning church
service.
Children that took part
were: Benjamin and Ratchel
Sloat, Meagan and Erin
McCormick, Jessica, Alia,
Andrea and Greg Blackler,
Judy and Doug Chappell,
Katie Paul and Christopher
Jongkind.
The flowers in the church
were in loving memory of
Mrs. Vera Jarvis.
Bill Chandler and Susan Dunn
sang a duet. The Sunday
School children were invited.
Rev. Peebles, minister of
Grand Bend Untied Church
was guest speakef. He asked
the question "What we really
think of when we celebt.,te
Christmas?" Do we try to see
how much we can get or do we
plan to give back something
in return.
Lunch and fellowship
followed.
Calvary United Church
choir joined by the Lutheran
church choir were out caroll-
Ing Thursday evening. They
visited 12 homes where they
were warmly greeted. They
returned to the United Church
for a social time of crokinole
followed by lunch.

patient in Victoria hospital,
London. •
Group 2 of Zion Lutheran
Ladies Aid packed 25 shut-in
boxes Sunday afternoon.
Flowers in Zion Lutheran
Church Sunday were from the
funeral of Mrs. Wellington
Heist. She was a former
member.
