CWL mother -daughter dinner a success
We offer our sincere sym-

Oesch who passed away on
Friday of the Queensway
Nursong home in Hensall
(formerly of Zurich) especial-
ly to her two-•hildren, Linda
Fisher and Elmer Oesch, both
of Zurich.
Mr. and Mrs. Lionel
Beauchamp and Lisa of Pem-
broke spent from Friday to
Tuesday with their son and
daughter-in-law Don and
Elaine Beauchamp and fami-
ly. And while here enjoyed go-
ing to the Christmas party on
Saturday night at the Town
Hall, for the staff of Don's
food market which included
both Hensall and Zurich
stores.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hay
are happy to announce the ar-
rival of their I lth grandchild
"Joseph William Gordon" son
of Billy and Shelley Hay near
Dashwood who was born on
Nov. 27.

C.W.L. 25 yr. pins last Thurs-
day at St. Peter's Catholic
Church following the Mass for
the Feast of the Immaculate
Conception of Mary and
C.W.L. Respect for Life Day

Joanne Vermunt, Ann Wild,
Theresa Masse, Rose

A lovely evening was had
by all at the St. Boniface
C.W.L. Mother and
daughter's pot -luck supper
last Tuesday Dec. 6 in the
school gym. Many delicious
dishes of food were enjoyed
plus dessert.
A musical program follow-
ed, consisting of tap dancing,
guitar playing, a skit put on
by the 4-H girls and beautiful
Christmas singing by the
church choir who are practic-
ing for the Midnight Mass.
Even Santa Claus was pre-
sent to hand out candy canes
to all the children.
Door prizes were won by
Wilma Pennings, Kelly -Lynn
Smith and Theresa Hartman.
Toys were sent to the
children's aid, plus the league
sent them $54.00 matching the
$27.00 collected at the ,1oor.
Elaine and Gord Hampton
of Kitchener entertained their
parents Jim Marj and
Carolyn Love, Zurich, and
Fred Hampton, Brockville
also Kathy Love of Waterloo
to a delicious pre -Christmas
dinner on Dec. 6 complete
with turkey and all the trim-
mings including plum pud-
ding. Mr. Hampton was
visiting with his son and
Elaine all last week.
Last Tuesday Dec. 6 the
Ladies Auxiliary held their
Christmas meeting and pro-
gram at the Rest Home. In a
delightful change, the
residents entertained the aux-
iliary. They gathered around
the decorated Christmas tree
and sang carols under the
direction of Cathy Shantz. A
lovely musical program was
also enjoyed along with the
Westlake children playing
violin duets.
An appropriate lunch of
Christmas cake and cookies
followed. A short business
meeting was held afterwards.
Best wishes for a speedy
recovery are extended to Doc
Horn who is a patient in Vic-
toria Hospital and to Russell
Oesch who was in Exeter
Hospital.

joyed the annual K of C San-
ta Claus party on Sunday
afternoon held at their hall in
St. Columbian.
They are also holding their
December Christmas
meeting this Thursday Dec.
15 in the form of a dance and
buffet meal accompanied by
their wives.

The Voice of Leo
Eighteen members were
present at the Lions club
meeting and dinner at the
Dominion Tavern on
November 21. Guest speaker
for the evening was Graham
Law who presented Lions Don
Oke and Morris Webb with
their 25 year shamrocks and
Doug Thiel with his 15 year
shamrock for their loyal ser-
vices to Lionism and to the
club. This Christmas meeting
will be on Dec. 19 to which
their wives are invited.
Volunteers are still needed
for delivering "Meals on
Wheels" if you can help out,
please phone Russell
Grainger.
Isidore LaPorte is in charge
of getting a float ready for the
Santa Claus parade in town
this Saturday, Dec. 17 begin-
ning at 1:00 p.m. and follow-
ed by treats for the kids at the
arena.
Don't forget about the
turkey bingo tonight (Wed.
Dec. 14) at 8:00 p.m. in the
community centre.
Tickets for the New Year's
Eve Dance are going fast. On-
ly $40.00 a couple includes
everything (drinks, favors,
good food and music). Con-
tact Carl Finkbeiner.
Canvassers needed
Volunteer canvassers are
needed for the March of
Dimes in January. Phone

the Heart Fund in February,

Dashwood at 237-3650.
Maplewood
Maplewood residents en-
joyed their Christmas party
on Wed. Dec. 7th.
The recreation room was
decorated in keeping with the
season. Christmas music was
enjoyed. The•turkey dinner
was catered to by Berdie
Finkbeiner and they all did
thorough justice to the lovely
meal.
Following dinner there was
a sing song of Christmas
carols and then several
residents shared experiences
of Christmas of the past.
Terry Lindey remembers
vividly seeing reindeer tracks
in the snow one Christmas
morning.
Connie Lewis gave a very
beautiful story of a Christmas
she and her husband spent
while he was posted in Israel.
Meda O'Brien told of being
snowed in over the holiday
and her struggle to travel
back to Toronto to her
teaching position. Beatrice
Rader told of Christmas at
"High Tor" in Nassau when
she was a companion to Mrs.
Sully. The evening was spent
playing cards.
The only birthday celebrant
for December is Mrs.
Frances Dunn and unfor-
tunately she wasn't able to be
present, as she is presently a
patient in the hospital.
Along with our birthday
wishes we hope you'll soon be
home again Frances.
REWARD - Anne VanGerwen handed out cookies, and Gerry Gregus passed out
punch to Precious Blood students after they had put on the musical program for
the residents of the Blue Water Rest Home. The event was sponsored by the CVIL
of the Exeter parish.

Reports of a walk -out on
provincial agricultural
minister Dennis Timbre]] by
Ontario Federation of
Agriculture (OFA) members
were distorted said a Huron
County delegate.
Hans Rasmussen of Ford-
wich, reporting on the annual
OF'A convention at the coun-
ty federation meeting on
December 1, said rumors
started on the Monday even-
ing of the convention that
there would be a walk -out on
Mr. Timbrell slated to speak
Tuesday morning.
Rasmussen said OFA presi-
dent Ralph Barrie of Perth
heard about the rumors, call-
ed the delegates together and
asked for members who
planned to walk out to speak
up,
"Nobody would," said
Rasmussen.
The Fordwich area farmer
said only about 10 delegates of
the hundreds there were
involved.

choir.
The annual Christmas par-
ty sponsored by the Ladies
Auxiliary was held on Tues-
day evening at the Home. T',e
program consisted of piano
and organ duets by Grace
Martin and Catherine Shantz.
Tim and Heather Westlake
favoured with two violin
duets, little Jane Westlake
played a violin solo and
Heather Westlake played a
piano solo. The residents'
choir of the Home under the
direction of Catherine Shantz
sang several Christmas

66th wedding anniversary.
Bingo was played on Friday
evening followed by
refreshments.
The Sunday evening chapel
service was conducted by
Rev. Stan McDonald of Hen-
sall United Church.
