Sunday afternoon, an ,.Open House" was held in his honour at the home o[ Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Millson, Clandeboye and despite the wintry weather, over 75 came to extend their best wishes to this fine gentleman. Other than his failing eyesight, Mr. Millson enjoys reasonably good health, despite his many years, and is able to manage on his own, in an apartment in Clandeboye. He was in the barbering business for 68 years before retiring in 1980. Mrs. Millson passed away in 1978 after 61 years together. Women's Institute Mrs. Gerald Lynn was hostess for the Christmas meeting of the Clandeboye Women's Institute. Following the Institute Ode and Mary Stewart Collect, President Elsie Lewis, read a The roll call, "What I want for Christmas" was answered by thirteen members, most of them wishing peace to the world, thankful to have their families coming home for Christmas and wishing good health for everyone throughout the coming year. During the business, dona- tions were made to the Curry Family Fund, War Memorial Children's Hospital and the Il- derton Fair 4-H Homemaking Competition Project. Clandeboye W.I. branch have been asked, and agreed, to look after the noon luncheon at the London Area Conven- tion in late October, 1984. The other branches in North Mid- dlesex District will take care of the banquet and etc. at the convention. Gifts were donated by the members for the Cancer Cup- board in Thameswood Lodge, London. Group 2, who in- cludes, Hazel and Gladys Cunningham, Betty Coughlin, June Henry, 011ie Hodgins and Terry Hoffernan, prepared an excellent Christmas program of carols, Bible reading, Christmas stories, poems and readings which was enjoyed by all. Two contests were won by Eleanor Kestle and Jean Hodgins. The hostess assisted the Group two ladies in serv- ing a delicious lunch and a social time was had by all. 4-11 Homemaking Achievement Day Achievement Day for the 4-H Homemaking clubs in the Lucan area was held at Prince Andrew Public School Saturday with 12 clubs par- ticipated in the program. The project was "Ontario Heritage". Clandeboye had three clubs participating. Food booths, to view and learn about the food customs of other countries, were set up with samples to taste and questions answered. Clandeboye Club no. 1 represented Jamaica, Clandeboye no. 2 Ireland and Clandeboye no. 3 Jewish. Receiving awards from Clandeboye clubs were Deb- bie Hodgson and Carol Cunn- ingham receiving count) honours completion of six homemaking clubs; Debbie Manders of Clandeboye, who is a member of Lucan 4 club, received Provincial honours, completion of 12 homemaking clubs. All members completing the project received a 4-H teaspoon and a certificate of Achievement. Many thanks to the laders and their assistants. The Spring Pro- ject is "4-H Quilting". U.C.W. The United Church Women met at the home of Irene Lynn. The roll call was answered with an item for the Teen Home in London. The Mission Cards were turned in and the ladies were reminded that December is the month for contribution to their Com- passion sponsored child. Gwen Lynn lead the devo- tional with all member par- ticipating. The white gifts this year were sent to the Women's Community House, London. Irene and Gwen Lynn attended the Lucan U.C.W. Christmas pot luck supper on Wednesday evening. Personals Barbara and Viola Carter representing Clandeboye St. James Anglican Church and Betty Coughlin and Gwen Lynn from Clandeboye United Church, attended the Lucan Holy Trinity Christmas dinner meeting, Tuesday evening. Due to the winter storm, on- ly four tables were in play at the euchre party at St. James Church, .)n Tuesday evening. Prize winners were for high scores, Margaret Carter and Allan Cunningham; lone hands Bob Latta and Freda Hollings; low scores, Kay Armstrong and Joe Carter. Next Party will be January 3. Mrs. Lewis Raycraft has been a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital for a week, where she is recuperating from a fall on the ice, resulting in a cracked bone in her leg.
