Robert Matheson was in charge of the Second Sun- day in Advent Church Ser- vice. He lit the second candle in the Advent Wreath and told the children about the lighting of the Bethlehem Candle. The choir rendered an an- them. The Scripture Lesson was read from Isaiah 11:1-10, Romans 15:4-I3 and Matthew 3:1-12. The sermon was en- titled "A World Without Love." Romans 15:4-13 is a passage we traditionally read on Bible Sunday. More often than not simply because it is Bible Sunday, we spend less time on the Scrip- ture lessons than we should and spend almost all our time on the value of the Bible. When Paul wrote this passage there was no such book as the Bible. The only scriptures recognized by the Christians at this time were the Old Testament Books. Romans 15:4-13 points out the necessity for the Bible. How else will people be able to realize there is more hope and love in God's creation than the Old Testament would suggest? Paul speaks of hope: hope is the cel Ira! theme to the en- tire bible. Wheave share our Bible with others, then, we share hope, and hope and love are inseparable companions. The hope which is from God can and will introduce love to a world without her! Rev. Robert Matheson spoke a few minutes on Mis- sion Bible Sunday.
