Rev. Derrick spoke to the
children on Advent and the
meaning of the advent
wreath.
He announced the service for
11 a.m., December 11 follow-
ed by a congregational pot
luck meal and the Sunday
School entertainment.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob , Mogk,
Guelph, spent the weekend
with Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Dobbs.
Miss Patti Dobbs attended
the recent Anglican Synod at
St. Pauls Cathedral, London,
as a youth observer.
Mr. and Mrs. Michael
Davis and Crystal were Sun-
day dinner guests with Mrs.
Mary Davis.

Rowe, November 1. After the
ritual a delicious pot luck din-
ner was enjoyed by all.
A mixed social was held
November 5 at the Elimville
Hall. After an invigorating
hayride through the wilds of
Osborne township all return-
ed to the hall for various con-
tests and dancing. Chili and
all the trimmings brought an
enjoyable evening to an end.
Special thanks for a great
time to our social committee.
November 15 a meeting
was held at the home of Barb
Passmore with Susan Moore
as co -hostess. Liz Taylor and
Marion Snow invited Barb
Whiting of Whiting Furniture
to speak. Mrs. Whiting
brought samples and pam-
phlets on curtains, drapes and
other window treatments as
well as answering our
questions.
Alpha Pi hosted a social to
which the members of Xi
Gamma Nu and Beta Theta
were invited November 22 at
Caven Presbyterian Church.
Linda Finkbeiner of Jac-
queline's Specialty Fashions
showed how to use scarves as
exciting fashion accessories
and many different ways to
tie them using Marion Snow
as a model.
Mrs. Ferguson of Ferguson
Apiaries demonstrated candy
making. She told of the pit-
falls to avoid and recom-
mended products and books
to ensure successful candy
making, as she made dif-
ferent delights. Candy sampl-
ing and lunch followed and
brought the evening to a
close.
Hurondale WI mark festive season,
learn about marking arrangements
The Christmas meeting of
Hurondale Institute was held
November 30 with president
Fern Dougall lighting a can-
dle for December and reading
a short Christmas poem.
Secretary Anne Bray gave
minutes of the last meeting
and the financial report. A
special report of the board
meeting in Hensall was given
by Marion Dougall. A report
of the convention in St. Marys
October 28 was given by Olive
Hicks.
Lois McFalls made a mo-
tion to leave the planning of
the Institute anniversary with
the committee in charge
when Olive Hicks asked for
opinions.
A motion was made to give
8100 to Huron County
Children's Christmas Bureau
and 850 for a new class at the
fair.
Hurondale will entertain
and provide lunch at Blue
Water Rest Home, Zurich
December 5 at 7 p.m.
In the absence of Olga
Davis, her daughter Darlene
was a s . ry capable chairlady
for an interesting grogram
with motto by Lois McFalls.
Christmas carols were en-
joyed by all.
Helpful hints by M. Dougall
and L. Alexander. A lovely
solo by Grace Pym accom-
panied by M. Johns was en-
joyed. The ladies were in-
terested in watching Dianne
Gerstenkorn of Hensall make
Christmas arrangements
following which Clara Harris
was the winner of one in a
draw.
