thdays party for Oscar and
Laura Miller at their home in
Dashwood Wednesday night
were Les and Marjorie
Adams, of Exeter, Melvin and
Gertie Stade, Jessie Rader,
Ervin and Hedy Devine, all of
Dashwood area, Ed Turnbull.
and Hugh and Annie Morenz
of this area.
In the social time games of
euchre and solo were played,
followed by lunch
refreshments and cake and
ice cream.
The ever popular Shipka
euchre parties will begin
tonight November 30 at 8:15
p.m. at the Community Cen-
tre. Lunch and prizes. All
welcome.
Hugh and Annie Morenz en-
joyed a delicious pre -
Christmas dinner, Sunday
with their cousins, Harry and
Margaret Coleman at Ripley.
Also attending the dinner
were Ed and Shirley Col-
eman, of Tiverton and Jack
and Leona Stacey, of
Mitchell.
Visiting with us last Friday
evening was our 2'.2 year old
great, great nephew, Gerry
Corbett of Hensall area. His
parents Steven and Janine
Corbett, attended the wedding
reception of Gerry's aunt and
uncle, Melanie and Robert
Drummond at Kirkton Com-
munity Centre.
Sunday supper guests with
John and Linda Weurth,
Becky and Sarah, were his
parents, Ray and Willa
Weurth, Exeter and John's
grandma, Mrs. Robert
Hunter, of Strathroy.
Clandeboye:
The A.C.W. of St. James
Anglican Church held a
meeting at the home of Mrs.
Roy Cunningham, Thursday
to complete their business for
the year.
During 1984 the duties of
president will be shared by
Mrs: Clarence Carter and
Mrs. Jim Cunningham, while
Mrs. Roy Cunningham will
continue to serve as
treasurer.
Eleven tables were in play
at the euchre party, Tuesday
evening sponsored by the
A.C.W. of St. James Church,
Clandeboye.
Prize winners were ladies
high, Jessie Lewis; mens
high, Murray Carter; lone
hands, Mary Scott and Jack
Hamilton; low scores, Rheola
Hotson and Murray
Shoebottom.
The next party will be held
December 6.
Several senior citizens from
this area accepted the invita-
tion from the Lucan Junior
Farmers, to an afternoon of
cards and refreshments in the
Leprechaun Hall of the Com-
munity Centre, Saturday.

A cliff-hanger is selection at Craig library

The Ailsa Craig Library
book club met Tnursday. This
month's selection was Alister
MacLean's adventure -thriller
"Circus", a real cliffhanger
combining the circus, C.I.A.
and MacLean's own brand of
suspense.
It was agreed that Circus is
a fine example of Mr.
MacLean's skill of putting his
hero against every possible
hazard and then overcoming
these obstacles, against im-
possible odds.
Members of the group felt
that almost all of Alister
Play euchre
at Centralia

The regular Monday even-
ing euchre in the community
centre had 14 tables playing
convened by Nelson Squires,
Joe and Margaret Carter and
Lydia Regier.
Prize winners are as
follows: ladies high score,
Elizabeth Lamport; lone
hands Charlotte Barker, low
Rose Atkinson, man's high
Percy Noels, lone hands Mur-
ray Carter, low George
Cunningham.
The next euchre will be
December 5 which will be
convened by Frank and Janet
Hicks and Bob and Iva Blair.
The senior citizens met in the
afternoon with a good turnout.
The afternoon was spent in
playing euchre and Lost Heir.
Lunch was served.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Sim-
mons, Woodstock spent the
weekend with their daughter
Mr. and Mrs. Rick Walker
and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Karl Kellar,
London were Sunday visitors
with Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence
Hirtael.
The sympathy of the com-
munity is extended to Mr. and
Mrs. Ron Kenney and family
in the death of Ron's father,
Mr. Cliff Kenney, Crediton.

It was decided to suspend
the December meeting and
get together again after the
Christmas rush on January 26
when the book "Nineteen
eighty-four" by George
Orwell will be discussed. Any
newcomers are welcome to
join at anytime.
Please note that the local
library will be closed
December 5 and 6 for
reshelving.
Wednesday the Happy
Gang seniors enjoyed a
delicious smorgasbord dinner
followed by euchre.
Taking prizes were Rheola
Hotson, Martha Rigney, Mar-
jorie Steeper, Gertie Hodgins,
Belle Stevenson, and Jean
McCallum. Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Trevithick were made
welcome.
The next euchre is
December 7 at 1:30 p.m.
Riverview Women's In-
stitute Christmas meeting
will be December 6 with a pot-
luck dinner at 12:30 followed
