Rev. Matheson gave the
Meditation entitled "Once
Upon An Aeon". In Old Testa-
ment times the prophets look-
ed forward to the day when
God's Messiah would come to
rule the world. On the first
Sunday of Advent we, too,
find ourselves awaiting the
celebration of that eventful
day, Christmas! Of course
there is a difference. We know
when Christmas came and
when we celebrate its coming
every year. The prophets did
not.
Instead they waited for
aeons to announce the com-
ing. Besides being a long
periodof time, an "aeon" can
also be a messenger of God
perhaps akin to an angel.
What better reminder of the
lite of Christ and our sharing
and our invitation to share in
that life than to celebrate the
Sacrament of the Lord's Sup-
per at this time?
The members of session
and Rev Robert Matheson
served communion.
