GOURMET COOKS -- Preparing a gourmet meal at the Southcott Pines Club House
takes concentration as is shown by Sherwood Eddy and Jim Redman. They are get-
ting egg -yolks ready for a peanut -brittle mousse. In the background, the rest of
the crew were preparing cornish game hens stuffed with Cointreau rice, enclosed
in puff pastry and served with Medeira sauce. Gourmet cooking teacher, Linda
Wooden, supervises ten weekly classes at the S.P. club.
New members Transfer
to church congregation
The Sacrament of Commu
nion was observed Sunday
morning at the 'Jnited
Church. Rev. R. Peebles
message was, "Communion
Meditation". He said we
should roll up our sleeves and
get going on God's plan. God
is still ruling and looks for
people who follow His word.
He used four looks at the
meditation topic, 1. backward
to the cross, 2. outward from
ourselves to others, 3. upward
to the Lord, 4. forward to
share our love. John gave us
the theology of Communion
and Jesus gave us the prac-
tical side by our partaking of
Communion.
The choir sang the Calypso
Communion hymn, "Let us
talents and tongues employ".
Scripture passages used by
Rev. Peebles were from Ex-
odus 12:1-14 and Matthew
26:17-30.
Transferring membership
to Grand Bend United, from
Niagara Falls were the
Misses Grace and Beatrice
Wilson.
Rev. Peeble's story to the
children was demonstrated
with a common pin. The top is
the head, the bottom the
point. When the childrens
mother asks for a pin ahs
wants a straight shiny one,
not a rusty one. In our lives,
Rev. Peebles told them, we
should use our head, and the
point for our purpose in life.
White Gift Sunday will be
observed next Sunday Dec. 4.
You are asked to bring a
white gift of food, clothing,
games, etc. Money will also
be accepted. Be sure it is
marked accordingly.
Bible Coffee Hour
Fifteen ladies attended the
Community Bible study at
Mrs. Vera Brown's home in
Southcott Pines, Tuesday
morning. Mrs. Nita Sinclair
opened with prayer and this
was followed by a hymn sing
led by Millie Desjardine.
The lesson was led by Mrs.
Brown on, "How to detect
false teachers," from 2 Peter
2:1-10.
Some questions asked and
discussed were In contrast to
eyewitness accounts of Jesus'
majesty and the Holy Spirit -
inspired prophecies of the Old
Testament mentioned in
Chapter one. against what
does Peter warn his readers
in this section? To what
lengths will false teachers go?
What will be the result for
them?
Some answers to these
were that false teachers deny
the Lord, they flatter and,
deceive, and their own words
condemn them.
The meetings will continue
at Mrs. Brown's home at 9:30
a m. Tuesdays. All ladies
welcome.
Anglican Church
Rev. Jim Sutton, at the Sun-
day morning service, sug-
gested it is time for us to
review the past year and look
to the future, trying to over-
come our limitations and see
where we can grow. In Mat-
thew 24:37-44, we are bid to
prepare for the coming of
Christ.
Coffee hostesses were, Mrs.
Reta Martin and Mrs. Marie
McCoy.
The next meeting of St.
John's ladies group will be
held December 1 at 6 p.m. at
Mrs. Nola Taylor's home,
preceded by a pot luck
supper.
Church of God news
Rev. John Campbell's topic
on Sunday morning was,
"Lord, what would you have
me? 1)being, 2)going,
3)doing, 4)giving, 5/prayer,
with scripture from 1 Peter
3:5.
Several women of the
Church of God presented the
theme of "Rejoice" on the in-
troduction to Christ birthday
offering. The music special
was a solo by Dr. A. Brown,
itled, "And He will by sin
forgive."
At the evening service, a
continuation of the family as
peacemakers theme, about
Mary and Martha and con-
flict.Aquestionna ire was pass-
ed around to answer on, "How
do you respond to conflict?".
Afterwards they held small
discussion groups on this.
