At Dashwood
Lutheran ladies entertain

Dashwood Lutheran
Church Lutheran Women
Missionary League hosted a
workshop November 14 with
ladies coming by bus from
Tavistock, Stratford,
Monkton, Logan, Mitchell,
Seebach Hill, Wartburg.
There were 46 present.
Mrs. Delmar Miller was in
charge. She took for the topic
"A pattern for Life." Each
one had to pick something
from a sewing basket and tell
how it related to her life. A
candlelight service followed.
Personals
Mrs. Frieda Keller return-
ed home from South Huron
hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rader,
Ben and Robin, London were
Saturday visitors with Mr.
and Mrs. Irvin Rader.
Dashwood - Seaforth band
held its Christmas part' Fri-
day evening November 18 at
Dashwood Community Centre
with 50 members and guests
sitting down to a delicious
turkey supper.
Three prizes were given
out. They were won by Mrs.
Norman Walper; Angelo An-
dreassi; and Mrs. David
Webster.

meeting Bunco was played.
Winners were ladies high,
Mrs. Gene Verhove; ladies
low, Mrs. Charles Toll; men's
high, Dennis Webster; men's
low, Jamie Sims. A short
dance took place. The evening
was enjoyed by all.
Mrs. Don Gaiser was
hostess for a shower for
Marie Beaver, bride -elect of
December at the United
chur.h Friday evening. One
contest and visiting was
enjoyed.
Zurich and Dashwood
United churches held a dinner
Sunday at Dashwood Com-
munity Centre catered to by
the catering group, for the
New Ventures in Missions. A
film was shown. Rev. John
Roberts of Belgrave co-
ordinator for Huron, Perth
and Lambton Counties of the
Huron Conference was pre-
sent and spoke.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Rader
were Sunday guests with Mr.
and Mrs. Wendell Gamble,
London.
New residents
at Clandeboye
Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Hollings
have moved into their new
home on their farm while son
Glenn and his wife Sue and
baby Jeffrey have moved
from Lucan to take up
residence in the older farm
home.
Hazel Williams and Jean
Hodgins joined a group of
ladies from the Strathroy-
Ailsa Craig area on a Lang's
bus tour to a dinner, theatre,
and shopping weekend in
Toledo, Ohio, on the weekend.
The live theat ' production of
"Oliver" was well presented,
following dinner at the
Westgate Theatre enroute
home on Sunday they stopped
at the Renaissance Centre in
Detroit for a couple of hours
of browsing.
Several ladies from the
Clandeboye Women's In-
stitute attended the Lucan
W.I. Wednesday evening and
enjoyed the talk and slides on
Australia by Bill Foran.

Now until December 3
Collect as many cards as you can, use the best 5 to
make a poker hand, put it in an envelope with your
name, address and phone number and make sure the
Times -Advocate has it by Sat., Dec. 3 at 5 p.m.
RANK OF HANDS IN STRAIGHT POKER
(Nothing wild)
1. STRAIGHT FLUSH, the highest possible hand:
all five cords of the same suit and in sequence
as the 6. 7 ,8 ,9 and 10 of diamonds. The highest-
ranking straight flush iS the A, K, Q, J and 10
of one suit , called a ROYAL FLUSH.
2. FOUR OF A KIND as, four aces, or four sixes.
It does not matter what the fifth. unmatched
cord is.
3. A FULL HOUSE is three cords of one rank and
two cords of another rank.
4. A FLUSH is five cords of the some suit. but not
all in sequence.
5. A STRAIGHT is five cards in sequence, but not
all of the same suit.
6. THREE OF A KIND, rank next.
7. TWO PAIR, rank next.
8. ONE PAIR beats any hand containing no pair.
9 And below the rank of hands containing one
pair ore all the no -pair hands, which ore rated
by the highest card they contain, so that an ace -
high hand will best o king -high hand, and so on.
CONTEST RULES
1. One card will be awarded with each pur-
chose of two dollars or more.
2. All hands must be either moiled to the
Times -Advocate, Box 850, Exeter or
delivered to 424 Main St., Exeter by 5 p.m.,
Saturday, December 3. (Saturday entries
can be put through the mail slot in the front
door)
3. Entries must be in an unmarked envelope
with your name, address and telephone
number enclosed.
4. Exeter Business Improvement area of-
ficials will draw from the entries and
award prizes as listed at the right.
5. Employees of participating'stores and the
Times -Advocate are not eligible to enter.
6. Contestants may enter as many hands as
they wish but each entry must be in a
separate envelope.

ROYAL FLUSH
The first Royal Flush drawn will receive $75 gift
certificate. The next four Royal Flushes drawn
will receive a $50 gift certificate.
FOUR-OF—A-KIND
The first four -of -a -kind hand drawn will receive
a $50 gift certificate. The next 11 hands con- ,
toinin four -of -a -kind will receive a $25 mer-
chandise certificate.
FULL HOUSE
The first hand containinga full house will
receive two $25 merchanse certificates. The
next 10 hands will receive $20 certificates.
STRAIGHT
The first hand containing a straight will receive.
a $25 gift certificate. The next 10 hands ccn-
taining a straight will receive $10 certificates.
THREE -OF -A -KIND
The first hand containing three of a kind will
receive a $20 certificate. The next five hands
" will receive a $10 certificate and the sixth hand
will receive a FTD Christmas. Arrangement.
TWO PAIR

receive a $20 certificate. The next 5 hands
drawn will receive a $15 certificate. The next
two hands drown will receive a $5 certificate.
The next hands will get a $2, $4 and $5 cer-
tificate respectively.
