catered to the Co-op Banquet
at the South Huron Rec Cen-
tre Friday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Alex Rohde,
Mitchell visited Thursday
evening with Mr. and Mrs.
William Rohde.
Mr. and Mrs. Barry E.
Miller spent the weekend with
Miss Barbara Miller, Toron-
to. Rebecca and Laura Miller
spent the weekend with their
grandparents Mr. and Mrs.
Ross Veal, Hensall.
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh
Matheson, Ottawa spent the
weekend with Rev. Robert
and Mrs. Matheson.
Many people from this area
called at the Lindsay Funeral
Home, St. Marys, Thursday
to pay their respect to the late
Lloyd Jaques. Sympathy is
.extended to the family and
relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Lorne
Passmore, Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Stewart, Mr. and Mrs.
William were among those
from this area who attended
the funeral of the late Norris
Webb at Woodham United
Church, Sunday. Sympathy is
extended to Mrs. Webb and
family.
Miss Donna Stewart, Lon-
don spent the weekend with
her parents Mr. and Mrs.
Floyd Stewart.
Church service
Rev. Robert Matheson was
in charge of the regular
church service Sunday morn-
ing. Rev. Matheson told the
children a story entitled "Our
Special King".
The Scripture Lesson was
read from Job 23:1-7, Collos-
sians 1:11-20 and Luke
23: 35-43. The sermon was en-
titled "Marking Time".
The Last Sunday in the
season of Pentecost is a Sun-
day of transition. We are
about to move into the Advent

Church sponsored a suc-
cessful dessert euchre
Wednesday afternoon. All en-
joyed the many choices of
dessert.
Winners of the euchre
were: ladies high, Mrs. Olive
Atkinson, Lucan; lone hands,
Mrs. Agnes Holson, Lucan;
mens high, Mrs. Marion
Thompson, a man's card
playing, lone hands, Mrs.
Marlyn Dixon, Clandeboye;
hidden scores, Mrs. Marjorie
Delbridge, Exeter; hidden
score, Mrs. Katherine Elston,
Centralia.
Milton Hodgins, Ilderton
drew the lucky ticket for the
brown and off white queen's
sized quilt. Winner was Mrs.
Shirley Ellis, Lucan.
There were five consolation
prizes and winners were Mrs.
Ada Little, Ilderton, Mrs.
Vicky Gee, RR 1 Lucan, Rev.
Peter Derrick, Mrs. Alma
Godbolt, Exeter and Mrs. K.
Elston, Centralia. The ladies
sold chances on a $10 box of
groceries - Mrs. Olive
Hodgins, Granton was the
winner. Mrs. Marguerite
Greenlee, president, thanked
everyone for corning.

Dinner guests, Sunday,
with Frank and Linda Voogel,
Brad and Chad, following the
baptism of their daughter
Kassie-Jo, at Grand Bend
United Church, were the
children's grandparents, Mr.
and Mrs. Ted Voogel, and Mr.
and Mrs. Glen Neeb, of
Zurich. the baby's godparents
Gordon and Mary Spiers, and
her uncle Richard Voogel.
The annual Harvest dance
sponsored by this community
was most successful, held in
Parkhill Community Centre
last Saturday evening. The
Shipka ladies served a tasty
smorgasbord lunch of turkey,
ham, cheese, rolls and
beverages.
Personals
Fermon and Leota Snyder
visited Saturday in London, at
their daughter's Esther and
Ric Storey. On Sunday,
members of the Snyder fami-
ly that included Jim and
Judy, Ferman and Leota
from this area, attended a
Musselman family pre
Christinas dinner, at Hickson
Community Centre, where
about 40 had gathered for the
family reunion.
Bill and Sheila Massie, of
London, former operators of
the Shipka General Store,
spent the weekend in this
area, renewing old friend-
ships and attended the
Shipka Harvest dance at
Parkhill.
Hugh and Annie Morenz
visited Sunday afternoon in
London, with Hugh's sister,
Mrs. Blanche Chapman.
guest with Mrs. Darling and
the three ladies attended the
bazaar - and bake sale at
Brinsley Anglican Church.
Mrs. Mary Davis was guest
of Mrs. E. Darling when the
"Sweet Adelines, Inc." gave
their "Barber Shop Gems"
November 19 at the London
Gospel Temple.
Sunday at St. John's The
Evangelist Church London,
Miss Sherry Steele godchild of
Mrs. Mary Davis received
her first communion.
She read the first lesson and
was "Cantor" for the service
Marg was pleased to attend
the service and was guests
following with Mr. and Mrs.
Steele and John.
Mr. and Mrs. Warren
Hodgins and Mr. and Mrs.
Bruce Bridgeman, Viking,
Alberta are visiting relatives
in this area.
Rev. Peter Derrick was in
charge of the srrvice at St.
P'trick's Church. Mrs.
Wayne Carroll was pianist.
A number of friends and
neighbours from this com-
munity attended the 25th an-
niversary reception and
dance Friday evening for Mr.
and Mrs. Martin Van Aren-
thal at the Lucan arena.
