IRVIN RADER Doshwood Members of the slo-pitch ball players attended a turkey supper at the community cen- tre Saturday November 5. There were around 170 pre- sent. Hall of Fame trophies were handed out to the two A teams. These were men's team and ladies' team. Dan- cing followed with music by the Mozart Melody Makers. Ladies Aid Zion Lutheran church Ladies Aid held the November meeting Tuesday evening with group 1 and con- vener Mrs. Howard Datars in charge of closing devotions and lunch. Pastor Mellecke took for the topic "Reaching out into Europe". This has been a series of tracing by map the journey of Paul and Bar- nabas, their trials and suc- cesses as they as Christian missionaries preached the Gospel. President Mrs. Florence Martene, dealt with the business. Twenty-one members answered the roll call. Husbands or a friend will be guests at the Christmas meeting which will be catered to. An exchange of gifts will be held. The Altar Guild reported 11 visits. One flower was sent. The new Guild is Mrs. Harvey Beierling and Mrs. Ir- vin Rader. Donations .here made to the sponsored stu- dent at St. Catharines Seminary, Family and Children's Services, Missions, Lutherwood and the Blind. Mrs. M. Mellecke is in charge of the plates with the two churches on to be sold by the Aid. Saintsbury By MRS. HEBER DAVIS ed home Sunday from a 10 -day visit to Florida. Mrs. Hazel Eaton was hostess Tuesday afternoon for St. Patrick's ACW. After a number of opening prayers by President M. Greenlee assisted by several ladies the Scripture reading by Rev. Derrick, Mrs. Mary Jefferies read the Meditation from the Living Message. Reeve and Mrs. Wilson Hodgins were recent guests with Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Davis at the almual road superintendent's dinner and dance held in Glencoe. Friday evening Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Davis were dinner guests with Rev. Peter and Mrs. Derrick and Jonathon. Rev. Peter Derrick was in charge of the holy Commu- nion service at St. Patrick's church Sunday. Mrs. Tom Kooy provided the music. Robbie Gee and Mrs. Ron Carroll were the readers. Rev. Derrick spoke to the children using the candle as an illustration of light. The ladies of St. Patrick's A.C.W. were busy baking this past week. They held a very successful home baking sale at the Lucan craft show Saturday all day. They are also planning a dessert euchre for Wednesday November 16 at 1 p.m. in the Parish Hall when they will draw for the quilt. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Carroll and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Davis attended an 80th birth- day party for their cousins Murdie Colbert at Komoka Hall, Friday night. Mrs. Heber Davis, Mr. and Mrs. John Young and Alex Young, Lucan were dinner guests Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Young, Lucan. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Simp- son and children, London were Sunday dinner guests with Mr. and Mrs. Bob MacGillivray and Courtney. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Tindall and Robert attended service at Centralia United Church Sunday morning. They went to London and took their daughter Marylou out for din- ner and called on Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Young, Lucan on their way home. Two birthdays and an anniversary were observed. Calvary United Church held the UCW meeting with Mrs Harold Hendrick as chairlady. Remembrance was the theme. How grateful we are to be free and at peace. Bible study was continued on "Jesus and the Poor". The Sunshine Committee for November is Mrs. Jessie Rader and Mrs. Harry Hoff- man. Mrs. E.R. Guenther gave the report for the nominating committee. Rev. Barbara Laing installed the new officers. Personals Joe and Judy Simpson and Patricia, Mississauga speril the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Mason and Doug Relatives and friends held a surprise baby shower for Judy and Patricia, Sunda afternoon. Mrs. Helga Higinell, St. Catharines and Mrs. Audrey Becker, Shakespeare were visitors Monday with Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Rader. Mrs. Morris Denomme, Mrs. Anna Messner, Mrs. Vernon Schatz and Mrs. Frieda Keller are all in South Huron Hospital, Exeter. Harry Hoffman attended . the funeral of Mrs. Gladys Cornell Tuesday at the Logan Chapel, London. She and Harry sang in the Coronation choir at Westminster Abbey when George VI and the Queen mother came to the throne. Mr. and Mrs. Colin Hindley, London, spent Sunday with Mrs. Emilie Miller. Mrs. Cindy Keller spent a few days last week with Mrs. Fred Sanders and children, London. Stacey and Derick Rader were guests last week with Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Barrett, Crediton and Stephanie with the Paul Watson family while, their parents were away.
