The regular church service
was held Sunday morning
with Rev. Robert Matheson in
charge. He told the children a
story "Slowly But Surely."
The Scripture Lesson was
taken from Zephaniah,
Thessalonians and Luke.
The sermon was entitled "A
Million Tomorrows".
Zephaniah speaks about the
coming of the Day of the
Lord. It could well be that
Zephaniah was actually war-

minence of invasion from
another country.
In his own way Zephaniah

human warfare and at this
time of remembering that is
something else we should
think about. Combat is
always a last resort used after
all negotiations have failed -
except that now nations are
using computers to help them
decide when to push the but-
ton. We do remember our
friends and neighbours who
sacrificed themselves for our
sake in World War 1 and 2 and
the Korean War and Vietnam
as well.
Those who have fought
have fought for peace. That is
their legacy. Another war
then denies that legacy. Jesus
came into the world as the
Prince of Peace.
Christians are called to the
very difficult talk of being a
conscience in our world - liv-
ing in peace and working to
guarantee "a million tomor-
