T -A photo Pride of Huron Rebekah officers installed by District Deputy staff Pride of Huron Rebekah Lodge met October 19 with Noble Grand Audrey Rowe presiding, assisted by Vice Grand Barbara Whiting. Cheryl Edwards introduced District Deputy President of Huron District no. 23, Sister Marion Rose, SeafOrth. Sixty sisters and four brothers were attending the meeting. Everyone welcomed ten sisters from Seaforth and Sister Olga Chipchase P.G. from Hensel!. Vice Grand Barb Whiting reported that the visiting committee had sent get well cards to Bill Thomson and Myrtle Orr. Lillian Swartz was reported to be in Univer- sity Hospital and Bonnie Slaght was in Victoria Hospital. Cheryl Edwards reported that the Humanitarian Ser- vices Committee had a very successful euchre party with ten full tables in attendance. The next euchre will be November 9. District Deputy president Marion Rose and the Installa- tion Staff installed Pride of Huron Rebekah officers in a very graceful ceremony. Sister Marion and District Deputy Warden Rachael Riehl were dressed in beautiful blue gowns and the remaining staff were dressed in long white dresses. Pride of Huron officers, in white gowns also, included Noble Grand Barb Whiting; Vice Grand Marie Broom, secretary Sister Audrey MacGregor, financial secretary Sister Lena Kirkland and treasurer Sister Olive Harvey. Appointed officers were as follows: Warden, Marie Fydenchuk; Musician Elaine Skinner, conductor, Cathy Mugford; Right Supporter of the Noble Grand, Cheryl Ed- wards; Left Supporter of the Noble Grand Marjorie Ar- thur; Chaplin, Janet Fiero; RSVG Shirley Cooper, LSVG Aldeen Skinner; Colour Bearer Mavis Atthill; Outside Guardian Jean Noels; Inside Guardian Ruby Beaver, Chaplin Supporter, Mary Fisher and Ruth Skinner; JPNG Audrey Rowe; Sup- porters Iva Blair and Joyce Morgan. Birthday wishes were sung to Mabel McKnight. DDP Marion Rose brought greetings from Assembly president Sadie Thomas. Sister Sadie would like all sisters to promote happiness through service and fellowship this yrear. Her favorite scripture is taken from Hebrew 13:1-2: "Let brotherly love continue Do not neglect to show hospitali- ty to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares." Prayers are ones' stairs that we climbed every- day to become closer to our Father. One project that will be in 'progress this year is to com- pletely furnish the chapel in the Barrie Home also the district project will be the purchased "High -Low" beds for Huronview Nursing Home, Clinton. Junior Past Noble Grand Audrey Rowe presented Sister Marion with a gift from Pride of Huron and Cheryl Edwards P.G. presented Audrey with a gift, con- gratulating her on a very suc- cessful year as Noble Grand. Percy Noels brought greetings from the Grand Master of the Sovereign Grand Lodge and wished Pride of Huron officers a very successful year. Lunch of sandwiches and squares were served. PIM MARTIN Several ladies from the United Church Women at- tended the South Huron Fall Regional meeting in Exeter recently. The theme, A New Vision, was presented by area presidents in the form of a playlette written by Marjorie Smith a conference minister. The play told of the develop- ment of UCW from the first group in the 1800's to the present. Those attending from Crediton were Marie Fyden- chuk, president; Jeanette Lamport, secretary; Mary Elder, Mary Kenney, Evelyn Pickering, Helen Ratz, Jean Neil, Doreen Lightfoot,Irene Schlenker, Leila Finkbeiner, Nola Foist, Marg Mason and Gloria Martin. Elsie Lewis and Hazel Cun- ningham attended as delegates, the Thursday afternoon session and ban- quet of the London Area Women's Institute Conven- tion, held at the St. Marys Community Centre. Betty Coughlin and Gladys Cunn- ingham attended the Friday session and noon luncheon. Ruth Hill represented Clandeboye Women's In- stitute at an area Forum and Luncheon for Blood Clinic Volunteers sponsored by the London Branch of the Cana- dian Red Cross and held at Westminster Campus, Vic- toria Hospital, Friday. Dorothy Joyce, Windsor spent the weekend with her sister, Hazel Williams. Howard and Gwen Morley, Hazel Park Michigan, drop- ped in for a short visit on Wednesday with the former's sister, Jean Hodgins. Next . The theme was Women - Unlimited Potential. District cieiegates were Dolores Shapton and Lois Hodgins. Branch delegate was Anne Cottel. Also atten- ding were Jean Neil and Eleanor Roeszler. Gordon and Alma Morlock were honoured Sunday for their 38th wedding anniver- sary and Alma's 80th birth - Faultier, Jim Thompson, Paul Cronyn and Gerald Isaac Third prize winners were Norm Ferguson, Gord Bieber, Basil Crawford and SA's in Exeter. Following the dinner a social time was held r at their home. About 20 per- sons were present from Walkerton, Stratford, Kit- chener, Tavistock, London and Crediton. The Crediton Social Club held a Euchre tournament on Wednesday evening at the Town Hall. 17 tables com- peted with the winners being first Crediton Firemen, Alf Smith, Don Dinney, Cam Stewardson and Dave Cottel. Second prize went to the social club team of Alvin Jim Barneston from the Ex- eter The Social Club thanks all those who participated in the card tournament.
