Times -Advocate, October 12, 1983 Page 9 Irish ready for good year The 1983-84 season for the Lucan Irish Six in the Ontario Hockey Association Junior "D" western grouping is underway and manager Bob Taylor is hopeful of a suc- cessful season. The Irish who won the OHA junior D championship two years ago and were eliminated in the first round of playoffs last year started the new regular season on home•ice last night, Wednes- day in Lucan against the Thedford Browns. Dave Revington who guid- ed the Irish to the champion- ship is back after a year's absence and will be handling the coaching duties while Bob Taylor is back as manager. The second start for the Irish will be Friday night when they travel to the South Huron Rec Centre to meet the Exeter Hawks. Game time is 8:30 p.m. In exhibition play, the Lucan club defeated Thedford and Seaforth and dropped a decision to the Exeter Hawks. Despite the loss of six regulars from last year's club, Taylor says he expects a good performance from his .team in what he calls a "rebuilding year." About the other clubs in the league Taylor said, "Tavistock will likely be tough again and the Exeter Hawkslookedgood in our ex- hibition outing." Missing from the Irish lineup this year due to being over age are Geoff Edwards, Doug Latta, Art Gregory, Steve Thompson, Randy Turner and Dave Paton. Also missing is goalie Paul Creighton from London who played last year under the goalie assistance orogram. Handling the Irish goal ten- ding chores for this year will be Al Moon up from the Lucan juveniles. The defensive corps will be made up of two returnees and a pair of newcomers. Back from last year are Todd Charlton and captain Paul Wraith who is moving back to the blueline after playing a couple of years up front. The new defencemen are Brad Hodgins from the Ilderton midgets and Rob Hardy, a graduate of the Lucan juveniles. Sparking the forward lines will be veterans John Medd, Jeff Skinner, Jamie Shipley. Dave Egan, Mark Thompson and Steve Glenn. Added to the forward brigade will be three Ilderton youngsters Bob Thirlwall, Mark Bannon' and Wayne Urbshott. 1 CUTABILITY DEPENDAINIXTY AFFOREIABILITY That's Pioneer's mid-range maxi -value lineup/ P41 For heavy pulpwood and light timber cuffing 4 cu in 65 cc power to handle 16 — 28 g.,Iae bars with ease Chainb'ake option available rte' •....w'^-- P28 Top-ot-the-tine ut t ty chainsaw with effective 4-po,^t ,,.bratlon Isolation system Hanc g.,ald and chain brake 4pt•on available b5, ,'., .•-- p1O1VEEFa- ..
