Playhouse build name
first honorary member
The eleventh annual
meeting of the Huron Country
Playhouse Guild was held on
Wednesday at Oakwood Inn,
Grand Bend. Mrs. Tory
McKenzie, president of the
Guild, welcomed 30 members
to 'he luncheon which preced-
ed the annual meeting.
Mrs. Jill Waters, vice-
president of the board of
Directors of the Huron Coun-
try Playhouse, accepted a
cheque from the Guild in the
amount of 82,000. Mrs. Agnes
Todd was the presenter for
the Guild.
Mrs. McKenzie gavea
short report outlining the
many activities of the Guild
during 1983 and spoke briefly
of her hopes for the 1984
season.
Heather Redick, publicity
director for the Playhouse,
spoke on the successful
season achieved by the
Playhouse during 1983. She
mentioned that 50,000 people
attended the plays presented
this year. She also stated that
the Playhouse Guild should
take pride in the theatre they
are working so hard for as it
is the most successful, finan-
cially, in the country.
Mrs. Redick also mention-
ed the great success of
Children's Day at the
Playhouse this past summer
with over 1,000 children hav-
ing a wonderful time on that
occasion with puppets,
balloons etc.
Mrs. Redick stated that a
proposal has been made for
six productions at the
Playhouse next year in order
to lengthen the season and
that tickets will go on sale in
January, 1984.
Mrs. Redick also praised
the Guild for the work they
are doing for the Playhouse.

The second meeting was
held on September 29 at the
Crediton Hall. The meeting
began with the 4-H pledge and
the reading of the minutes of
the last meeting.
Our presid. nt Heather
Hern demonstrated some ex-
ercises to music that we will
be using later on. She showed
us how to do them to music.
After that we did the roll
call and were told about or
home activities. After the
meeting was closed the smart
shoppers game was played.
The next meeting will be Oc
tober 3.

Angela Armitt, retired dean,

Playhouse Board of Directors
was given an enthusiastic
welcome when introduced by
Mrs. Pat Venton. Miss Armitt
began her talk by saying that
she would do anything she
could to promote the
Playhouse and then proceed-
ed to once again delight her
appreciative audience with
her own unique humour.
She spoke briefly on how
successful communication
can be when done with
humour. She also gave the
Guild many suggestions to
help the Guild financially.
Miss Armitt ended her talk
In her own initimable way,
leaving her audience happy
and enthused about their ac-
tivities with the Guild for 1984.
Mrs. Al Coo,past president
of the Guild, thanked Miss
Arinitt.
Mrs. Tory McKenzie an-
nounced that it was a
pleasure for the Guild to
name Miss Angela Armitt
their first honourary
member.
