Strolling down Main St. and through the grounds of the
Van Egmond House on Ciderfest '83 weekend will be a little
like stepping back in time to the 19th century.
You can watch the blacksmith, Jing Wallace, the potter
Rob Tetu, the weaver Chris Scott, the Ukranian egg painter,
Hilda Sampson, and the woodturner Ray Hannah
demonstrate the skills commonly seen during the days of
the pioneers and even participate by carving apple head
dolls with Frances Hook.
Cidermaking will be demonstrated while Gerald Marten
uses his apple press and free cider will be given on Sunday
to those who buy a Ciderfest '83 button for Si. The butt9n
also entitles wearers to free admission to the House aid
events and merchant specials on Saturday. Proceeds from
the button go to the Van Egmond Restoration Fund.
Antique cars, antique machinery and threshing
machines will also be on display. Pioneer Seed Corn is
providing a popcorn maker so that free popcorn will be
given to the children.
Children can also have their faces made up by Katimavik
participants and enjoy pony rides.
By touring the Van Egmond House, Cardno Hall, and
Frank Sills' museum, the whole family can discover and
help to preserve the heritage of the Seaforth area.
