REPEAT WINNERS — The Dykeman and McIntyre clan have become perennial win-
ners in the children's division of the Exeter fair parade and this year was no excep-
tion as they won first place in the family pet section with Hey Diddle Diddle.

Bruce Pierce conducted the
worship Sunday and continu-
ing with his sermon series on
"The Forces of Evil" the
Minister dealt with the "Ar-
mor of God" and entitled his
message "The Belt of Truth".
"A belt is a support, and we
we need this to stand in
Faith, knowing that we are
protected by God, we also
need Forgiveness, Happiness
and Contentment. Buckle up,
put on the belt if you want to
overcome evil, said the Rev.
Pierce.
The service at St. Thomas
Anglican Church was
withdrawn Sunday in order
that the congegation could
join in worship with the con-
greation of St. Pauls Anglican
church Kirkton, in -the
celebration of their
Anniversary.
The service at St. Thomas
will also be withdrawn next
Sunday October 2, so that the
members can attend the An-
niversary celebration -of St
Patrick's Church, Saintsbury.

The Granton W.I. met at
the home of Mrs. Don Roloson
September 20. As Mrs.
Clarence Lewis was
unavoidably delayed. Mrs.

We are happy to report that
Mrs. Clifford McRobert is
now home from hospital
recuperating from a fall
which injured her leg.
A speedy recovery is wish-
ed for Mrs. Chas. Gowan, who
is a patient in St. Mary:
Memorial Hospital.
Sincere sympathy is ex-
tended to the family of the
late Mrs. Carmen Dann, who
passed away suddenly in Vic-
toria Hospital Friday. Mrs.
Dann was a former Granton
resident.

Sunday. Rev. Peebles

Woodburn, son of Bill and
Shirley Woodburn, on the win-
ning of a free trip to Greece.
He won the prize on a 3000
word essay on "Why Alex-
ander Merits the Title
Great." It involved both high
schools and universities in
Ontario. When he is in Greece
all expenses will be paid by
the National Tourist
Organization.
Crediton 4-H

Crediton Club V was held
September 19 at Jean Flem-
ings. The maih topic for the
meeting was "Fitness".
Mrs. Donna Dawe came
and gave members an exer-
cise workout listening to
Richard Pryor's exercise
record. It was enjoyable to
the whole group.

The Kirkton UCW held their
regular September meeting
September 14 at the Kirkton
United Church.
The theme of the meeting
Literature was conducted by
Mrs. Bob Marshall, Mrs. Jack
Urquhart and Mrs. Wallace
Selves. A skit taking place at
the laundromat led to the
discussion or our new study
book Jesus Means Life.
A discussion group of three
ladies gave their answers to
questions; a) When did you
first see Jesus? b) What did
He look like? c) Your opinion
that an African child might
have of Jesus. These answers
were varied and some self -
provoking questions were
very interesting.
A film strip "Who do you
say that I am" was again
discussed by the group of
ladies. Mrs. Wallace Selves
read scripture and prayed •
President Mrs. Ray
Paynter welcomed the ladies
back after the summer vaca-
tion. Mrs. Paynter opened the
business meeting with a
reading by Erma Baumback,
Mrs. Bob Marshall was
presented with her life
membership pin by Mrs.
Paynter and Mrs. Clarence
Switzer.
Thames Road UCW invited
Kirkton UCW to their regular
meeting October 3 at 8 p.m.
Ladies are asked to meet at

Kirkton-Woodham Communi-
ty Centre. Vice-president
Phyllis Rodd had charge of
the meeting.

The Ontario Ministry of the Environment has developed a compre-
hensive proposal of new programs, controls and regulations for
the better management of eight million tons of solid waste and
the 60 million tons of liquid industrial waste generated in Ontario
each year.
Information meetings to explain this Blueprint for Waste
Management have already been held.
Now interested persons or groups will be given the opportunity
to make written or oral presentations on the subject at a series of
public forums being held throughout Ontario.
