They accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Terry Morgan, Mark and Melissa to Canada Wonderland on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Mac- Donald, Lucan were Tuesday guests with Tom and Mary Kooy. Clyde Kooy, Huron Park spent a few days holidaying with his grandparents. Mrs. Von Overholt spent the weekend in Zurich with Mr. and Mrs. Glen Overholt and family. Her granddaughter Roxanne returned home with her for a few days visit. Mrs. Lawrence Hirtzel at- tended a shower in honour of her granddaughter Miss Dalphine Hirtzel of Parkhill held at the home of Mrs. Dan Gwalchmai in Lucan Wednes- day evening. Accompanying her were Mrs. Donna Wood and daughter Cindy who are visiting the Hirtzels from Flin Flon, Manitoba. A shower in honour of Miss Patti Tasko (bride elect) was held in the basement of the United Church Monday even- ing when she received many useful gifts from the ladies of the community. Sunday visitors with Mrs. Clara Cunnington were her brother Mrs. and Mrs. Gor- don Bender,- Dashwood and Mrs. Ken Richardson, Mount Forest. Centralia Faith Tabernacle had their fourth open air ser- vice with the Good News Band and Bob Heywood. There was good Gospel sing- ing. It was a good night to give praise to God for these outdoor services. The M.C. was Ted Butler with a good crowd in attendance. Greenway • By ANNE WALPER I am happy to report that Harvey Eagleson, who was a patient in Exeter hospital has returned home and is much improved in health. Ivan Hodgins has been visiting John and Alma Hood and family of Whitby. Katie and Jennifer Steeper, Ailsa Craig spent the weekend with their grand- parents, Earl and Marion Steeper while their parents were away. Congratulations to Joe and Debbie Thomson (nee Lynn) who were married Saturday. The reception was at Lucan. Mr. and Mrs. David Ferguson, St. Thomas visited Ken and Luella Smithers recently. T -A photo Craig turtle beaten in Manitoba race By ALICE DICKENS At Gala Days in July the feature event was the grand champion turtle race. This year's winner was Marsha Sutherland, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Sutherland, RR 3 Ailsa Craig, with her turtle "Chelsea" who edged out Pepper, the Manitoba turtle. Recently Marsha, her parents and Chelsea made the trop to Boissevain, Manitoba to compete in the World Tur- tle racing finals. The Ontario winner made a brave at- tempt, however, as it seems there, -the -turtles are bigger, ana taster, and so he was left in the dust. Tho' no winner, the group were treated royal- ly and enjoyed the trip very much. Better luck next time. Winners at the Happy Gang seniors on,Wednesday after- noon were Kay Simpson, Mrs. Read (visitor), Shirley Williams, Marjorie Davidson, Margaret Dores and Laura Auxford. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Jack Donaldson ( Dorothy Reid) who celebrated their 50th wedding day. Mrs. Read, Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan visited recent- ly with Mrs. Becky Ross. Recently the Rocking Chair group provided a musical pro- gram in the Craigholme for the residents having August birthdays. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Roth and family. Ponoka, Alberta visited recently with Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Roth. Riverview Women's In- stitute regular monthly meeting will be held September 6 at 1:30 p.m. in the Masonic Hall with the Citizenship and World Affairs group presenting a film. Members please bring cookies for Craigholme. Jayne Ilayter returned home following a pleasant holiday in Windsor with her 4 aunt and uncle, Mr. and Ntrs_ Joe Bruce. She also spent a few days with her aunt, Mrs. Grace Beavis and cousins, Mr. and N1rs. Don Duffy and family. Detroit. Nirs. Leo Gibson won $1000 at the Clinton monster bingo last Monday evening by win- ning the jackpot. :Judith Mellecke has return- ed to Concordia ('ollege. Ann Arbor. Michigan. Mr. and Mrs. Ward Kraft have moved from Exeter to the outskirts of Dashwood Mr. and Mrs. Ross Love spent Sunday in Sarnia with Mr and Mrs. Clare Love and fancily where the children and grandchildren gathered to celebrate Gramma Love's birthday. Dr. Lam will be in the Dashwood Medical Centre of- fice Monday through Friday starting this week: The office will he open each day Monday through Friday with the exception of Wednes- day afternoon. In addition the office will be open Thursday evenings. Recently Mrs. Irvin McAlpine, Mrs. Roland Neil, Mrs. Myrtle Ross and Mrs. Alice Dickens visited their former neighbours, Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Beaman of Strathroy, who were holiday- ing at Ipperwash. A pleasant visit was enjoyed by all. Mrs. Martha Rigney, Craigholme, visited recently with Allan Ross and family of Edmonton. A van load of seniors en- joyed, a trip to the Aylmer market, Tuesday. Mrs. Rose Broad, Willowdale, spent a couple of days with Mrs. Verna Leitch. Remember the Lioness euchre, August 31 at 8 p.m. at the Masonic hall. The local Lions club plan a 'clean-up day' on Saturday, September 10. TIMPLIMAN Karen Templeman hosted a Templeman -Duncan shower for Karen Ulch, bride -elect, at her home in Mitchell August 14 with 30 relatives from Lon- don, Mississauga, Stratford, Exeter, Hensall and surroun- ding area present. Several contests were enjoyed. Mary Jane Parsons read an address of good wishes and Barb Templeman assisted Karen in opening her gifts. Karen expressed her thanks to all and Bev and Karen Templeman served lunch. Cpl. Richard Cameron, younger son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Cameron, flew from C.F.B. Trenton, August 11, to Lahr, Germany, where he and his family will be station- ed for the next four years. His wife Denise and baby son Jim, will follow as soon as accommodations . are available. Denise and Jim are staying with her Parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Moore, 26 Wellington Street, Mitchell. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Stewart and Meagan, Pentic- ton, British Columbia, holidayed for a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Rob Templeman, Carrah and Cain. Many friends, relatives and neighbors called on Otto Walker, Cromarty Sunday, to congratulate him on his 80th birthday. The family of Mr. and Mrs. Robert McCaughey celebrated their parents 40th wedding anniversary with a family gathering at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Elliott, Sunday. All family members were present except their son Fred who is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital London. having undergone surgery on Sunday.
