CAME CLOSE — The Huron Park firemen came close
to winning the hose relay at the Crediton department's
contest at Summerfest, Sunday, but their 37 -second
time was not good enough to beat Dashwood.
Picnic ends play
for Shipka kids

The windup party tor the
Shipka pee wee baseball team
was held Monday night
August 15, at the home of
Karen and Wayne Woods.
More than 20 children and
parents attended.
The children played foot-
ball and English bulldog. For
lunch they had barbecued hot
dogs and cake and ice` cream.
The ball playcrs received
diplomas and badges. Coach
Louis Des.jardine was
presented a pen with his
name and year engraved on
it.
The pee wee team and
coach wish to thank the
Woods for offering their home
for the party. The pee wee
and squirt ball players were
on a float at Grand Bend
Sandcastle Days parade
Saturday morning.
Ifariton picnic
Around 40 attended the
Harlton family reunion. Sun-
day. at Shipka Community
Centre.
Sports were held in the
afternoon conducted by Mrs.
Mary McRoberts and family.
Next year's sports committee
will be Mrs. Ken Nicholson
and Mrs. Ken Moore.
After supper the children
provided a variety program
of readings and plays.
Folks attended from Toron-
to, London. Sarnia. ('ourtright
and Granton.

Wednesday afternoon with his
brother Roy. a patient in Vic-
toria hospital. London where

he recently underwent
Surgery.
Pam, Norbert and Sebas-
tian Hererrias, of London,
visited Sunday with Pam's
parents, and brother, Sid,
Eleanor and Glenn Durie,
Visiting last week with
Hugh and Annie Morenz,
were my sister,. Mrs. Shirley
Dell and daughters Tonya and
Cynthia, of Belleville. The
girls father drove them up on
Sunday August 14, and they
returned home this past Sun-
day August 21, with their
brother Clinton.
Highlights of their visit with
us were celebrating Tonya's
14th birthday with cake and
ice cream and all the trimm-
ings. Side trips were to
Springbank Park and
Storybook Gardens, and in
and around Grand Bend, also
to a matinee show of "South
Pacific" at Huron Country
Playhouse.

in St. Joseph's Hospital,

Mrs. Michael Davis and
Crystal and Mrs. L. Dietrich,
Dashwood are visiting
relatives in Saskatchewan.
Mrs. Mary Davis was a
Saturday evening dinner
guest with Mrs. Gertie Gibson
also Mrs. Mabel Needham,
Mrs. Muriel Cobleigh, Mrs.
Lela Abbott and Mrs. Myrna
O'Neil. They wet -e observing
Mrsrobleigh's birthday.
