Lay cornerstone at local seniors' facility open house
The Hensall Senior Citizens
Homes at the co -ner of Queen
and Albert Street in Hensall
was the scene of an open
house and cornerstone laying
ort Sunday irom 2 p.m. to 4
p.m. Jack Riddell, MPP used
an antique silver trowel for
the cornerstone laying, which
was attended by many in-
terested persons from Zurich,
Dashwood, Exeter, Goderich,
Seaforth, Clinton and other
areas.
An apartment was on
display which was fully fur-
nished by Whitings
Warehouse, Exeter. Coffee
and cookies were served by
the committee in charge. In-
terested persons attending
we, e greatly pleased with the
space and furnishings on
display.
The building as a whole will
be an asset to the village and
it will prove to be a comfort
home for many to enjoy. The
bricking is well underway and
the landscaping will present
one of the finest homes to be
seen in many areas.
Peter Snell guest speaker
The Hensall United Church
service on Sunday morning
was conducted by Peter Snell,
Exeter, who spoke on the ub-
ject "Springs in the Desert".
Miss Sheila Riley was in
charge of the Junior con-
gregation. Mrs. Shirley
Luther and Mrs. Nan Britton
sang a duet and Mrs. Luther
sang a solo accompanied by
Eric Luther at the piano.
Marlin Nagtegaal presided at
the organ for the service.
Steven Corbett and Wray
Jacobi greeted worshippers
at the front door.
The Sunday, August 21 ser-
vice at 11:00 a.m. will be con-
ducted by the Rev. Charles
Scott of London with Robert
Gackstetter as soloist.
Queensway news
Rev. Barbara Laing con-
ducted worship service at the
Queensway Nursing Home on
Tuesday assisted by Philipa
Steckle at the piano with Mar-
tha Weigand and Gwen
Whilsmith assisting with the
service.
Bill Triebner visited with
his mother Mrs. Muriel
Triebner. Betty and Dianne
Steckle visited with Mr. and
Mrs. Pat Oesch. Les Mitchell
visited with his mother Mrs.
Louise Mitchell. Ila Dunn
and Iva Batter visited with
Vera Lammie. Joanne
Kozlow and Elaine Leeming
visited friends at the home.
Reg and Gladys McDonald,
Exeter visited several
residents.
Lloyd McDougall was the
high scorer at the bowling on
Friday with 160 score.

A pleasant social family
gathering was held in the
Fellowship Hall of the United
Church on Sunday when Open
House was held for Private
Jeffrey Sangster and Private
Marlene Mercer whose mar-
riage was solemnized in July
in New Brunswick.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Eric Mercer
Botwood, Newfoundland,
whom they have been visiting
during the past week. They
enjoyed an afternoon of new
and old acquaintances, when
refreshments were served.
After holidaying with ., the
groom's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Don Plunkett, Hensall
and sisters, the couple will
return to Gagetown, New
Brunswick where they are in
the Armed Forces.
Mrs. Vera Lemmon return-
ed to her home after spending
several weeks with relatives
in Ottawa.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Keyes
of Grand Bend visited last
week with Mr. and Mrs.
Edgar Cudmore and Mr. and
Mrs. Harold Parker.
Don Avery of Deerefield
Beach, Florida, visited last
week with Mrs. Evelyn Flynn
and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald
Flynn and Lori and Susan.

The 28th annual Wright
Reunion was held at the
Kirkton Woodham Communi-
ty Centre on Sunday, August
7. Everyone enjoyed a boun-
tiful dinner.
Business was conducted by
the president Lorne Ross. The
1984 reunion will be held at the
Community Centre on August
12. The executive for 1984:
president, Alex Wright;
secretary, Laurabelle
Reichert; sports, Helen and
Brian Hardeman.

sports.
Lorne and Ethel Ross had
the largest family in atten-
dance. The oldest person was
Charles Baillie; the youngest
Hillarey Hardeman. Alex
Wright, Toronto, came the
most miles to attend. Lorne
Ross polished his own shoes to
come. Myrtle Baillie wore a
coloured slip with lace. Alex
Wright had the most keys on
a chain. Mary Ross had the
