MR. AND MRS. BRIAN McCANN
Mr. and Mrs. Brian J. McCann were married July 9, 1983
at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church with Father Joseph
Nelligan officiating. The bride, Jayne Patricia is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Smith, Exeter and the
groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William McCann, Mt.
Carmel. The maid of honour was Virginia Smith and
bridesmaids were Susan Regier and Kim McCann. The
best man was Jerry McCann and guests were ushered
by Paul McCann and Bill McCann. Master of ceremonies
was Dave Prout. After a honeymoon in Northern On-
tario Brion and Jayne are now residing at RR 3 Ailsa
Craig.

tions conferepce being held at
Centralia College. "It is the
same kind of courage our
foremothers l:ad when they
pioneered in this country that
we as women need to face the
exciting challenges in our
lives." explained Valerie
Bolton, Coordinator of the
conference.
The program for rural
women begins Friday even-
ing August 26 with a film
'Great Grandmother' and a
keynote address by Hilde
Morden of Rodney. Hilde will
encourage the participants to
focus on their own talents,
goals and needs, treating this
learning experience as an

Sue Anne Finlayson and Ed Von Miltenburg exchanged
marriage vows on Saturday, June 25 at St. James Catholic
Church with Father J. C. Caruana officiating. The bride
is the daughter of Laird and Ruby Finlayson, and the groom
is the son of Jack and Elizabeth Von Miltenburg. Maid of
honour was Teresa Ferris, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids
were Sharon Carnochan, Sandra Finlayson, Shelley
Finlayson, sisters of the bride and Linda Van Miltenburg,
sister of the groom. Flowergirl was Erin Carnochan, niece
of the bride. Best man was Ben Van Miltenburg, brother
of the groom. Guests were ushered in by Randy Poisson,
friend of the groom, Jack Van Miltenburg, brother of the
groom, Brad Carnochan, brother-in-law of the bride and
Dick Robinson, friend of the groom. Ringbearer was
Steven Rombouts, nephew of the groom. Following a short

munity shower in Cromarty
Church where friends and
neighbours presented her'
with many lovely and. useful
gifts. The evening was plann
ed by Joyce Miller, Kathy
Elliott, Claudette Elliott and
Pat Wallace.
The program was chaired
by Joyce Miller Four girls,
Trudy and Tracey Quance,
Cherie Elliott and Lisa Gar-
diner, traced Darlene and
Don's courtship in song, ac-
companied on the piano by
Carol Anne Scott. Jean Carey
gave a humorous reading.
Contests were enjoyed, in-
cluding an egg contest in
which the bride-to-be
participated.
The address was prepared
and mead by Kathy and
Claudette Elliott. Two 'of
Darlenek sisters, Geri Neilson
and Fay Martyn assisted her
in opening her gifts. Darlene
expressed her thanks to all
and introduced Don's grand-
mother and aunt from
Saskatchewan.

"when the participants have

share ideas and common
challenges.".
The program Saturday will
offer a variety of workshops
including Eating Well; Being
Well, Financial Concerns,
Leadership Skills. Time
management Women 1.nd the
Law, Community Develop-
ment, Stress and Leisure Ac-
tivities. As well as workshops
there will be presentations by
the Concerned Farm Women
for Support of Agriculture.
There will be fun as well as
learning at this conference
with fitness breaks and New
Games at lunch time. There
wiU also be some displays and
a bookstore for those who
want to do follow up reading
to their workshops.
