AND MRS. BRIAN McCANN Mr. and Mrs. Brian J. McCann were married July 9, 1983 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church with Father Joseph Nelligan officiating. The bride, Jayne Patricia is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Smith, Exeter and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William McCann, Mt. Carmel. The maid of honour was Virginia Smith and bridesmaids were Susan Regier and Kim McCann. The best man was Jerry McCann and guests were ushered by Paul McCann and Bill McCann. Courage of foremothers considered at conference 'Legacy of the Past, Challenge of the Future' is the theme of this years' Direc- tions conferepce being held at Centralia College. "It is the same kind of courage our foremothers l:ad when they pioneered in this country that we as women need to face the exciting challenges in our lives." explained Valerie Bolton, Coordinator of the conference. The program for rural women begins Friday even- ing August 26 with a film 'Great Grandmother' and a keynote address by Hilde Morden of Rodney. Hilde will encourage the participants to focus on their own talents, goals and needs, treating this learning experience as an Staffa bride MR. AND MRS. ED VAN MILTENBURG Sue Anne Finlayson and Ed Von Miltenburg exchanged marriage vows on Saturday, June 25 at St. James Catholic Church with Father J. C. Caruana officiating. The bride is the daughter of Laird and Ruby Finlayson, and the groom is the son of Jack and Elizabeth Von Miltenburg. Maid of honour was Teresa Ferris, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Sharon Carnochan, Sandra Finlayson, Shelley Finlayson, sisters of the bride and Linda Van Miltenburg, sister of the groom. Flowergirl was Erin Carnochan, niece of the bride. Best man was Ben Van Miltenburg, brother of the groom. There will be fun as well as learning at this conference with fitness breaks and New Games at lunch time.
