IRVIN RADER The best Friedsburg celebration yet with the parade theme "Food for Thought" or "Your favourite food fantasy". New events for this year are a midway with several rides and concession booths Friday and Saturday even- ing; Friday night bingo in the community centre and a baseball game with the guys and gals from CFPL radio; craft show in the community centre all day Saturday; also a cross cut sawing contest. Mrs. Robert Dukelow, Sim- coe spent Friday with Hazel Williams. There will be contests for children Saturday afternoon. At camp Camp Pioneer, Angola, New York was the setting for six days of fellowship for con- firmands of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, from Ontario and Michigan with the theme "Sharing Jesus." New friends were made and new skills learned through ac- tivities such as canoeing, can- dle making, kite making, photograms, physical fitness, archery, stained glass pain- ting, tennis, mime, garden- ing, nature study, jewelry (metal craft), floor hockey, wood craft, swimming and mini golf. Bible study and meditation were conducted in assigned question groups and Vesper service brought each day to a close. Ross Keller, Paul Mellecke, Chris Miller, Robert Rader and Bill Vandeworp of Zion Lutheran Church will always consider their time spent at Camp Pioneer to be very special in their lives. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Hodgert returned home on the weekend after holidaying in England and Scotland for two weeks. Mrs. Dorothy Heard of St. Marys and little Miss Lindsay Knight, Hensall spent a few days last week with Mr. and Mrs. George Kellett. David. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Ballan- tyne, Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Ballantyne and Wendy, and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Ballan- tyne, Deanne, Cheryl and Jayne were guests at the Rose -Bell wedding in Fullar- ton United Church, and the reception and - dance at Kirkton-Woodham Communi- ty Centre, Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. William Rohde, Danny and Tammy Rohde spent Sunday at Woodland Camp. On their way home they called on Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bennewies. Mrs. George Morgan returned home one day last week after having been a pa- tient in a London Hospital. Get well wishes are extended. Church Service on Sunday, July 24th will be at Thames Road at 10 a.m. Sunday, July 31 a church service will be held at MacNaughton Park, Exeter at 10 a.m. with a pic- nic dinner to follow. This "Thursday 13 members of the Crediton Youth Group. Soul Survivors are going on a camping trip accompanied by Rev. and Vary Elder and Mr. and \lrs_ inn Finkbeiner. The group will be gone four days. Thursday the group held a successful bike-a-thon to raise funds to defray some of the expenses. A special thanks to all who donated to the event. Some things of interest were a Scottish Celidah; a Shakespearean Festival at an abode of Henry VIII and a stay at Exeter. The scenery and flowers were beautiful. It was a lovely trip but the weather was hot and humid and there was no air conditioning. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Gibson and their grandson, Robert Marriage of Clinton spent a week at Wawanesia where the weather was good and the fishing great. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rader, Ben and Robin, London, were vacationers last week with Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Rader.
