DVBS well attended More than 170 children registered for the two-week Daily Vacation Bible School in Zurich. The school, spon- sored jointly by the United, Mennonite and Lutheran churches in the village, began July 4. This year's attendance is up from the 1982 roll, and two buses are required each day to pick up children who need transportation. Only one was used in 1982. Kindergarten to grade 'four is .being held in the Zuric:l Public School, and the older children are accommodated in St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Twenty-six teachers are supervising the classes built around this year's theme Jesus, Lord of Promise. The director is Zurich and Dashwood U.C. minister Bar- bara Laing, and Pearl Ann Martin contributed her piano - playing skills. Offerings will be divided between Compassion of Canada based in London and ARC Industries in Dashwood. Parents and friends are in- vited to the closing program on Thursday, July 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the Zurich Public School. For every three books taken out they will receive one ballot and a draw will be conducted the end of the summer. Remember the Saturday morning library hours are from 9:30 to 1 p.m. Chris Semple (son of Keith and Susan) returned home Prom being a patient in Owen Sound General Hospital this past week. Kurt and Sandra Gemming from Rochester New York recently spent a few days with his aunt and uncle, Marg and Ross Johnston at Bayview. Vistiors last week with Mrs. Dorothy Koehler were Clyde and Thelma Worsell from the West Coast. Beth Sweeney and Maureen Vanden Boomen along with her brother, Tony Vanden Boomen and friend Sandy Hartman of Lucan all enjoyed a nice day at Canada's Wonderland near Toronto on Sunday. Mary Ann Dumouchelle of Belle River spent from Fri- day to Monday at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Denomme. Best wishes for a speedy recovery are extended to George Bedard who is a pa- tient in Victoria Hospital, to Anne Flaxbard who is in the hospital, and to Dave Stark who returned home on the weekend from Clinton Hospital. Renee Sweeney is spending a few days with her cousin Melinda Gelinas in London. Sister Bernadette Laporte from the Pines in Chatham spent last week with her father Noel Laporte on the Blue Water Highway. Haberers celebrate 30th anniversary contest at library back on the weekend. Viola Ducharme and Florence Denomme visited with the latter's sister Leona Bedard, in Seaforth on Saturday. Gertie Fleischauer spent the holiday weekend at the home of her daughter, Ruth Ann and Bill Mills in Palmerston and attended the E nbro Highland games while thtre. Then this past Satur- day and Sunday Gertie visited with daughter Marion and Larry Rogers and family in London. Congratulations to Fred and Audrey liaberer who celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on Sunday with an open house in the after- noon at the home of their son, Steve and Michelle Ilaberer, Zurich where many friends and relatives stopped in to ex- tend their best wishes. Last Wednesday 15 members of the Women's In- stitute plus some friends spent the afternoon at the Lambton Heritage Museum viewing all the beautiful handmade quilts that were on dispiay. Several from town attended the annual Smith famil; reu- nion on Saturday, July 9 held at the Dashwood Community Centre with relatives coming from Hamilton, Barrie, Kit- chener, Stratford, Michigan, Halton Hills, St. George, and St. Columbian. Some stayed overnight with Mr. and Mrs. Ed Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Smith. The annual bird club picnic and pot luck supper was held at the farm of Cliff and Laura Pepper, RR 1 Dashwood on S'inday.
