Lucan was the place to be for sporting high- lights this past year. The Lucan Jr. D Irish hockey team captured the all -Ontario title._ Four other Lucan hock- ey teams won provincial titles. Lucan area high school athletes excelled at track and field. The Exeter area also had its fair share of sports gold nuggets. Ex - Exeter Jr. D Hawks for- ward Jeff Campbell broke out to become a Jr. 8 star with:. the Strathroy Rockets. A women's lawnbowling team featuring three Exeter club members won a national champi- onship. And female sports stole the spotlight from the maleson more than one occasion to finally get their due. APRIL •The Stephen Township Atom Sniper Sonics hockey team wins the am -Ontario title. •The Lucan Irish sink the Port Stanley Lakers in six games to advance to the Jr. D final series. •The Exeter A/E midgets win the Shamrock League title. •Hensall's Jeff Campbell and Mark Bell win numerous awards at Strathroy Jr. 13 Rockets banquet. •The LUcan Irish win the all -Ontario Jr. D championship after six game battle versus defending champions the Wellesley Applejacks. •Lucan Minor Hockey celebrates its 50th anniversary. sea '!h p . 2S
