What I Want Adults
to KnowAbout
Christmas
By Katie Ryan, Gr. 6
St. Patrick's School
There is too much
stress around Christmas.
Parents rush to go out
and buy gifts in
December. They don't
know what to buy for
people. It's hard to find a
hiding place for the gifts.
All of a sudden it hits par-
ents, wow, it's already
December. They rush into
stores and wait in line for
hours. Or they just can't
find what they are looking
for because it's sold out.
In my opinion parents
should not buy gifts in
December. Why not buy
gifts in October or earlier.
Then Christmas would
not be such a hectic time.
I would like to say
something to all parents.
Christmas is supposed to
be a happy time of the
year, not the most hectic
month. We are celebrat-
ing Jesus' birth.
Somehow we have
turned Christmas into a
time when everyone is
stressed out. If we do our
shopping earlier and
remember why we are
celebrating, then
Christmas would turn out
to be how it is supposed
to be - a happy time of the
year.

What Christmas Means to Me -
A ChristmasThank You for My Family
By Ryan Denomme, Gr. 7
St. Boniface School
1 appreciate everything you do for me. I thank you,
parents, for creating me and giving me life.
Dad. I thank you for teaching me many things. For
teaching me how to paint and how to fix things. But
most of all I thank you for giving me life and for teach-
ing me to be a better person. You have always told me
to be nice to people and to try my best at everything.
You have always told me not to fight with my siblings.
You have always wanted me to go to church and pray.
I thank you for being there for me. I thank you for
making me laugh.
Mom. I thank you for being strict so 1 would learn to
be a better person. I thank youfor feeding me and giv-
ing birth to me. I thank you for loving me, talking to
me and trusting me. I thank you for washing my
clothes. I thank you for telling me to always give people
a chance. I appreciate that you care for me, giving me
a home, and giving me a brother and a sister to play
with. Thank you for raising me to be a good person
and for keeping me out of trouble. I thank you also for
watching out for me and worrying about me.
Sarah. I thank you for being my sister. I appreciate
you always letting me in on mom and dad's Christmas
or birthday present. I thank you for telling me if I look
good in something or if it looks bad. I thank you for
doing my house chores if I am gone to work on a week-
end. I thank you for making lunch for me on the days
that mom isn't home.
Marty. I thank you for being my brother. I thank you
for always playing with me. I thank you for making me
laugh. I thank you for being kind to me. I appreciate
you doing things for me like getting me a drink or turn-
ing on the TV for me.
To help me be a more positive person in our family. I
will not yell as much. I will try not to disobey you as
much, mom and dad. I will be nicer to my siblings. I
will try to help more around the house.
I will try to set a better example for my siblings, and I
will be more loving to the members in our family.
Thank you.
Love Ryan
What I Liked Best About Christmas
By Nathan Maribrecht,
Grade 6
St Patricl!s School
What I liked about this Christmas was. I got the best
present ever. When I got up that morning I went down-
stairs and put my gifts at the front of the tree and went
back upstairs and woke up my parents and asked them
if we could open the gifts. They said in a few minutes,
as always.
I went back downstairs and waited. Finally they
came. I got to open the first one. I looked at it and said
to myself, it's the best present ever.
After all the gifts were opened, I played with them. I
went up to my bed and thanked Santa. My parents
made breakfast. I came down and ate breakfast and
thought about all my gifts. After breakfast I played
until lunch. I had lunch and I thought about dinner.
because we were having all my aunts and uncles over.
After lunch we had to get ready for dinner. We set the
table and we finished just in time.
Soon everybody was here and we had dinner. After
dinner I showed everybody my toys. I played for awhile
and then went to bed.
Legion Christmas party
On December 12, the Exeter Legion Branch # 167 hosted a Christmas party for
the children and grandchildren of the Legion members. The puppeteer - Marion
Doucette and clowns - Dixie and Curly, thrilled the young audience with their
antics. The jolty old elf himself stopped by to spread a little Christmas cheer
amongst the children. The day's events were assisted by Rebecca DeVries, Beth
Hundey and Mitchell Tiernan. Chris Hall from Mitchell won the Mr. and Mrs. Santa
Claus dolls - courtesy of the Ladies Auxiliary.Above, children enjoy the puppet
show.
