The Christmas Angel
By Kaitlyn Wright , Gr. 8
Precious Blood School
It was Christmas..Ege
and little Carmen Bailey
was sitting at the window
with sad tears rolling
down each cheek. Yes, it
was Christmas Eve =indeed
but there was no
Christmas joy in the Bailey
home. For Carmen's dear
aunt Leala had died just
two months before. It was
a hard time for Carmen
and her family, her and
her father were finding it
especially difficult.
At last it was time for
bed. Carmen's mother
took her "up and tucked
her in, not even noticing
something was the matter.
Just moments later she
felt the most awkward
feeling. Suddenly a light
figure appeared in front of
her. It was an angel. She
was the most beautiful
thing Carmen had ever
seen. When the angel
spoke, Carmen realized it
was Leala. She told
Carmen that she was in
Heaven and that she was
very happy.
In the morning, Carmen
could have sworn that
whathappened was sim-
ply a dream. All of a sud-
den she felt very peaceful,
that is when she knew it
was not a dream, ' It really
was her aunt and she real-
ly was in Heaven.
It turned out . that
Carmen and •her family
ended up having a won-
derful day all because of
the Christmas angel!

Journey to
By Nataile Klaver, Cr. 4,
Way back then I lived in Nazareth with
my husband. Joeph. One day 1 was'
praying to God when an angel came
down. "Do not be afraid. I have come to
share good news. You will have a son
and name him Jesus. He will be the
king," said the angel.
A few days later there was another
announcement. Everyone had to go to
their home town to pay taxes. This
would be a long journey. Joseph's home
town was Bethlehem.
So we packed up a few things and left.
I sat on the donkey while Joseph
walked. All day we travelled. We only
stopped a short time for a meal of bread
and water. I got very tired. So did
Joseph and the donkey.
It took almost two months. It was espe-
cially hard on me because I was preg-
nant. It was a bumpy ride. At last we
saw Bethlehem. We went from inn to
inn, but everyone was full.
Wearily, we came to the last inn.
"Please, my wife is going to have a baby
and we need shelter. We have ,come a
long way," Joseph pleaded when the
door opened. "I'm sorry," said the
innkeeper. "All I have is a stable."
"Alright, that will do," I said tiredly.
So I lay down in the straw with Joseph
beside me. While we waited for the
baby, we ate some food the innkeeper
had brought us.
We waited and waited.
At last, the baby came! I laid him in a
manger. He slept soundly while I rested.
"Thank you, God," I whispered. I slept
soundly. When I woke, I saw shepherds
crowding around Jesus. "Hello, miss, we
were just worshipping your son," said a
shepherd. He explained angels had
come and told the shepherds. After they
Bethlehem

sang it song they gave directions to the
stable and left:
The shepherds soon left. They said
that their sheep were waiting.
"Goodbye," , said Joseph and I.
"Goodbye," answered the shepherds,
Just then, Jesus started. I picked him
up and rocked him in my arms. He
stopped crying.
Joseph had gone to the inn for more
food. The animals were happily munch-
ing hay and grain. Our good old donkey
had laid down for a nap.
After a while three wise men came.
They each had a gift. One had myrrh,
one had gold and one had frankincense.
"How did you know we were in this sta-
ble?" Joseph asked. "Well, first we went
to King Herod to see if he knew. He said
no but when we found him he would like
to worship him too. Then we had a
dream that told us King Herod was
lying. Also in the dream, God said to fol-
low a big star. So we did and we found
you. We thought we would give you
these gifts," answered one of the wise -
men. They all gave their gifts to Jesus
and left.
Joseph and I were tired from the long
night. Just, then the innkeeper entered
the stable. "I brought some blankets for
you. It gets cold. I'm sorry I had to give
you such a smelly place to sleep," he
said. "Oh this is fine. Anything is fine,"
replied Joseph.
That night when Joseph and I went to
bed, I had a dream. In my dream God
said, "Do not go past King Herod's
palace. He will try to kill your son." In
the morning, we went a different way
home. We thanked the innkeeper and
left. Now I live with my son Jesus and
my husband Joseph.
Christmas Eve
By Evan Thomson, Grade 3, Usborne Central School
It was Christmas Eve.
The small boy was sitting
in the kitchen eating pizza
and his cat was curled up
in a corner having a
sleep. Suddenly there was
a big fight. The cat
jumped up and peeked
around the corner and
saw two mice fighting
over some cheese. The
big mouse was gray and
the little mouse was
white. The big mouse was
trying to take the cheese
away from the small
mouse. The cat started to
chase after them. When
the cat took off after the
mice he was going so fast
that he bumped into a
table and knocked a glass
vase over. It fell and
broke into a million
pieces. The boy was so
angry at the cat that he
started to yell at it. The
mice stopped running
when they heard the cat
and boy fighting. The
small white ,mouse want-
ed to see the cat get into
trouble so he slowly
sneaked over tothem to
get a closer look. The big
gray mouse got mad at
the white mouse because
he thought the white
mouse was taking too big
of a chance getting caught
by the cat. He started to
argue with the white
mouse. Soon they were all
screaming at each othe>;,
at the top of their lungs:
The house started to
shake and tremble from
all the noise. Suddenly
there was a loud bang
and they stopped fighting.
They were all scared by
the bang and they hugged
each° other. They . all
looked at ekch• other and
said "I'm sorry". They
decided to play games
and sing Christmas songs.
They realized it was get-
ting late so they all went
to bed. Santa came and
gave them presents. In
the morning they woke up
and saw all the presents
and said "Santa came"
and they cheered because
they realized that if they
had kept on fighting, •+ic_ y
Santa probably wouldn't
have come to them and
left presents.
