On Christmas Eve, the
candles lit,
Santa makes his way to
our house bit by bit.
I didn't ask for much this
year.
Except some toys and
Christmas cheer.
I hung my stocking by the
fire.
And so did our family for
us to admire.
We decorated the tree
with the box of decora-
tions.
But when we couldn't find
it l was filled with frustra-
tion.
Finally we found it up in
the attic.
On Christmas Day every-
one was ecstatic.
The family gathered with
oh so much glee.
To admire our own family
tree.
Next we opened up gifts
I received skis that go so
swift.
After that's over we gath-
er and remember old
times.
Like that nursery rhyme
that goes once upon a
time.
Then we pack up, it's
time to go home.
I'll have to travel all the
way back to Rome.
But I had a great,
Christmas, it was full of
cheer.
Now I better go before I
shed tears.

The Best Hockey
Game Ever
By Ben Parker
Grade 5, Stephen Central
Public School
It is the last game of the
season: Toronto against
Detroit. There was only
one day left until the
game, and Toronto was
worried that they were
going to lose. But Sundin
was cheering them on to
keep up their spirits.
Oh no! Suddenly the ice
started to melt! Them the
announcer got sicitSo,
they put cold water and
snow on the ice. Thdn
next day, they came acid
checked the ice. It was
OK. Then the announcer
called and said, "I will be
there."
The gaille was starting,
and the Maple Leafs were
ready. The announcer
started speaking, "On
goal is Cujo, and at cen-
tre, is Mat Sundin," and
on, and on and on.
Toronto had a break-
away. Mat Sundin was
skating fast. He shot. He
scored. Now it was 1-0 for
Toronto. They were
happy! Then Detroit had
a break -away. Yzerman
shot it. A glove save by
Cujo! Yzerman was
mouthing off at Cujo.
Domi came up to
Yzerman. Domi punched
him. Yzerman tried to hit
back. But Domi punched
Yzerman so hard that
Yzerman was knocked
out. Domi said, "You don't
hit Cujo!"
The game was over. The
Leafs had won 1-0. The
music was playing. Loud
firecrackers were flying.
Everybody was partying.
The Leafs had their best
game ever.
Jesus
By Kirsten Allen, Gr. 4
Huron Centennial School
We were watching our
sheep when something
caught our eye. It was a
star right over yonder.
We walked and walked
until we came to a barn.
Inside was a light. We
decided to go inside.
Inside was a young
woman and a man kneel-
ing before a baby in a
manger. The other shep-
herds and I went over to
see what it was about. We
found out that the man'so
name was Joseph and the
lady's name was Mary.
They had a cute little
baby named Jesus who
was God's son! After a
short talk we went back
to the grazing lands.

pretty good this year.
Here are some ques-

pretty fast to take you
around the earth in one
night!)

many elves you have?
3. What is your
favourite reindeer? (I like
Comet.)
4. Have you ever been
down a chimney where
the fireplace was lit?
(Ouch!) ,

The Worst
Christmas
By Andrew Mattson,
Gr. 4
Mensal! Public School
On Christmas, Santa
was just starting to load
the sleigh. Then the rein-
deer got shot in the leg.
The elves picked the rein-
deer up and rushed them
to the reindeer hospital.
Santa got mad and
yelled, "Who's responsi-
ble?" Then he saw some-
one running away.
"Stop!" he yelled, but a
gust of wind blew snow,
then he got away.
Then Santa started to
cry. He said over and
over, "This is the worst
Christmas ever."
Then one of the elves
said, "We'll put on the
sleigh rocket boosters."
Then he asked an elf if
the reindeers were going
to be all right.
The elf said, "They will
be all right, Santa."
"Then off I go," said
Santa.
"Before I go, I need the
presents. Now herp I go,"
said Santa.
