Knights help minor hockey
The Lucan Knights of Columbus continued their annual tradition of helping Lucan
Minor Hockey by donating $500 last week to be used for jerseys and equipment.

Dashwood WI holds Christmas meeting
DASHWOOD - Dashwood W.I. and
guests met at Liz Allen's restaurant
Dec. 7 for a Christmas meal with all
the trimmings. The conveners were
Ruth Stire and Frieda Keller.
Everyone completed get acquainted
contests - "Your Funniest Christmas"
and a "Holiday Puzzler" by identifying
the holiday song titles OCAYF- 0 Come
All Ye Faithful.
The Roll Call was answered "If I were
starting business on my own, it would
be... Minutes and the' treasurer's
reports were read. The procedure was
conducted by Ruth Stire. The motto
"Success isn't the destination, it's the
journey". The true joy of life is the trip,
read by Dorothy Restemayer.
A poem "It was the week before
Christmas and all through the town."
The true meaning of Christmas is right
here in our hearts. Everyone was guid-
ed to Canadian Yuletide places bearing
names of mts., ranges and creeks in
each province. A traditional feast con-
sisted of 10 items such as cranberry
P.E.I.
Each read a couple of lines of the
poem "The Countdown". Somehow
we'll all survive it and the water will
still be wet. Credit cards will still
abound as consumers go further in
debt. Wishes for Brenda and Dwight.
Christmas carols were sung led by
Ruth, Dorothy and Kaethe. Food items
were collected for the food bank.
A scenic tour of the lights in town
was enjoyed.

Beta Sigma Phi held.
their Christmas party, at

St. Marys.
The party was orga-
nized by Leona Amos,
Chairman of the Social
Committee, assisted by
committee members
Maida Gasier, Pat
Patterson,. Marian Rister,
and Elsie Witteveen.
Following a smorgas-
bord dinner, .Santa
arrived to hand out the
gifts from the secret sis-
ters.
Everyone enjoyed dis-
covering the variety of
presents.
The evening ended
with "Merry Christmas
and Happy New Year to
all!"

December 7, eight mem-
bers of St. Patrick's and
one visitor met at 7 p.m.
for dessert and coffee at
the home of Rose
Cunningham before their
Christmas A.C.W. meet-
ing.
The home was beauti-
ful with lit Christmas
trees and villages, ani-
mated figures, home-
made ornaments and
Santa and reindeer
adorning the lawn.
A members prayer was
said in unison. Margaret
Carroll led a prayer for
the sick and shutins,
remembering Mabel
Needham. Katie -Scarlett
MacGillivray led a prayer
for the Sunday Schools
and Heather
MacGillivray led in a
prayer for the church
and its work.
Scriptures were read
by Rose Cunningham.
The treasurer's and
secretary's reports were
given.
Last minute plans were
made for the Christmas
pageant and concert.
The group discussed
the banner that they will
make before the A.C.W.
Annual in April.
The Sunday School will
support "Sleeping
Children Around the
World"; a third child;
and the A.C.W. will send
a cheque for Fair Share.
Gifts for shutins will be
delivered this week
along with the collection
of items for Daily Bread.
Bishop Townshend's
update on "Life at St.
Patrick's" will be sent
this week.

Eucharist at 10:30 a.m.
on December 19.

gation and visitors gath-
ered in the Parish Hall
for the Christmas
Pageant and concert..
The third candle in the
Advent Wreath was lit,
representing joy.
Starr Davis gave a wel-
come, along with a wel-
come from Sunday
School teacher and
superintendent Hazel
Davis. Each of the young
people were in costume

Sympathy of the com-
munity goes to the Lewis
and Cronyn families in
the loss of wife, mother
and sister Anne. Lewis,
who passed away
