The Pinpoppers women's bowling team held their annual Christmas get-together last Tuesday evening when 10 of them enjoyed a dinner at Abe's Restaurant in Hensall followed by a sodal evening and gift exchange at the home of Mary -Ann Craner in Zurich. The Rest Home Auxiliary held their Christmas meeting and party December 7 for the residents. Santa Qaus and his elf were on hand to visit everyone and give gifts to the residents on behalf of the Auxiliary. The next Auxiliary meeting is on January 4. The Zurich Bowling Lanes is planning to have a Millennium Party on December 31. Glow in the Dark bowling will be played from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for those under 19 years of age. From 9:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. will be for the adults. The cost includes a hot buffet meal at midnight. Phone 236-4923 to reserve your alley or for more information. The Golden Agers held their Christmas dinner meeting on December 13 at 12:30 p.m. at the Town and Country Lanes in Zurich. President is Lottie Grenier. The Zurich Diners held their Christmas dinner at noon on December 15. Their next dinner will be held January 5. If you plan to attend, phone Kay Hay the Monday before by 12 noon. The Chamber of Commerce held their Christmas din- ner/party on December 11 at Hessenland Country Inn at St. Joseph. Their next meeting will be held at Erb's Country Kitchen on the third Tuesday in January. The Scouts recently had Assistant District Commissioner Daryl Keys come for a visit. They played Flags and had Mr. and Mrs. Tom Neilands in to talk about volunteering in the Kinsmen and Kinnette clubs in Hensall. They practiced their knotting and tying skills and had a relay race to tie ropes together and rescue ZURICH - Be sure to put your Christmas lights and decorations on early Saturday night, December 18 as members of the Zurich Chamber of Commerce will be judging for the "Light -up Contest". St. Boniface School will be holding their Christmas concert on December 15 in the church at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome and may bring a canned item for admission. Students of St. Boniface School will be going skating at the Zurich Arena on December 17 and 22. The last day of school before Christmas holidays is December 23. They go back to school on January 10. The Zurich Cubs went to the Imax theatre in London on Wednesday. This Wednesday the scouting groups, Cubs, Beavers and Girl Guides, will sing Christmas car- ols to the residents of Blue Water Rest Home at 7 p.m. Used stamps may be dropped off at St. Boniface Church on the table near the door, marked for the C.W.L. The Zurich Public School Parent Council will be hold- ing their annual penny sale this Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on December 20 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The proceeds will go toward new playground equipment. They are holding a Christmas concert in the gym on December 21 at 7 p.m. On December 23 the choirs will go to Blue Water Rest Home to sing carols for the residents at 10 a.m. The students will have a pizza lunch on the Last day of school before the holidays. On December 8 the choirs entertained at Dining for Seniors. A New Year's Eve Dance will be held at the Zurich Community Centre from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tickets are available from Cheryl at 236-7374, from the arena at 236-4969 or you can buy them at J&L Variety Store, Jerry Raders or the Zurich Municipal Office. The cost is $30 per person which includes a hot lunch, party favours and a lot of fun. Music will be by a live band "Serious Business". All proceeds will go to the arena building fund. Dougall said the drop in program, meant for parents of small children to take a short break from their kids for a coffee and conversation with other adults while the children have a juice and a snack and play nearby, will take a three week break over the holidays.The program started in October and will be back starting Jan. 7, 2000, from 10 a.m.- 11:30 a.m. and continue at the same time each Friday. The family of Tony and Adeline Denomme enjoyed their annual pre-Quisttnas dinner and get-together on Sunday.
