managed to stay in the
' thick of things in each
game.

one 51-46 to London
Montcalm. Panther coach
Terry O'Rourke said his
squad experienced some
difficulty on offence that
will improve with prac-

Looking for Little Rocks
Dear Editor:
The Exeter Curling Club
would like to expand its
junior curling program to
include the younger chil-
dren that are too small to
handle the large curling
stones.
To achieve this we
would like to purchase a
set of Junior Rocks that
are half the weight of the
normal curling stones.
We are asking local
businesses and . service
clubs to help us by pur-
chasing a rock. Your busi-
ness or service club's
name will be engraved on
the rock as a permanent
advertisement. The total
cost of a rock including
taxes and engraving is
$260.
If you would like to
assist us and purchase a
rock, please call Bill
Urquhart at (519) 235-
3377. Make cheques
payable to Exeter Little
Rocks. Your consideration
is appreciated.
Sincerely,
Bill Urquhart

Big weekend for Panthers hockey
Both the girls and boys
hockey teams have put
South Huron District High
School on the map with
excellent performances at
tournaments over the
weekend.
The Panther girls
stretched their winning
streak to four in a row on
Friday by winning the
eight -team Listowel tour-
nament.
A shutout performance
by Panther goaltender
Kelli Fulton and a goal
each from the Regier sis-
ters, Jo -Dee and Kristine,
paved the way for a 2-0
win over Norwell in game
one.
Fulton notched her sec-
ond shutout of the day in
a 2-0 win over the
Panthers' toughest oppo-
nent of the day, Wingham
F.E. Madill. Jessica Davies
picked up both Panther
goals with an assist by
Kerri 'Wade' Fulton.
The Panther faced
Fergus Centre Wellington
in the final who had one
of the strongest goalies of
the tournament. The
opposing goaltender
fought off the Panther
barrage till Davies /man-
aged to find the 'top cor-
ner of the Centre
Wellington net with' five
seconds left in the first
period.
Centre. Wellington tied
the game early in the sec-
ond period getting the
puck past South Huron
starting goaltender
Charlsey O'Rourke. The
game remained dead-
locked at 1-1 till the 3:00
mark of 'the third period
*en Davies scored her
fourth goal of the tourna-
ment to give the Panthers
the win and the tourna-
ment championship.
South Huron coach
Lynne Farquhar was
pleased with her team's
effort.
"Strong goaltending, key
scoring, good hard work
in the corners, great team
spirit and Sarah Wuerth's
lucky tow have helped
to get the team on the
winning track," she said.
The Panther boys grind -
ed out a consolation
championship win at the
20 -team Palmerston tour-
nament on the weekend.
South Huron was placed
in the elite division since
it was the only spot left

Panther coach Mike
Soldan said the aim was
to put in a good showing
but his expectations were
more than met with the
consolation trophy and
medals for his players.
The Panthers went 3-1-
1 with the loss to Centre
Wellington, one of the
Fergus area's finest hock-
ey schools.
The 1-1 tie came
against Huron -Perth rival
Listowel who earlier this
season handed South
Huron their only H -P
league loss. Listowel later
went on to play in the
tournament final while
Centre Wellington quali-
fied for the semi-finals.
In the Listowel game,
the teams played two and
a half scoreless periods
before Listowel beat

T h e
P anthers
evened the
game with
4:42 left
when J.R.
D avies
scored from
D a n
Mosurinjohn
and Steve
Rasenberg.
Soldan said the game
was one of the fastest
paced games the
Panthers have played this
season. The match was a
physical affair though
only four penalties were
called, three against
Listowel.
The Panthers picked up
where they left 13ff in
game two versus Centre
Wellington. After playing
almost one and a half
periods of scoreless hock-
ey, Centre Wellington got
on the board first and
then went up 2-0 less
than three minutes later.
The Panthers got back
into the game when Craig
Overholt scored from
Bryan Stuckless and Rob
Devries with 4:27 to play.
Centre Wellington then
took a penalty with 2:45
left. The Panthers hit the
crossbar and a goal post
and twice put the puck
through the crease
behind the Centre
Wellington goalie in the
wild finish. Despite at
least 10 shots in the dying
moments of the game, the
Centre Wellington goalie
stoned the Panthers to
record the 2-1 win.
South Huron took game
three 4-1 over London
Banting in a much slower
paced game. Mike Seip
opened the
scoring for
