TIMES -ADVOCATE STAFF
EXETER — Nabisco
staffers Wayne Biesinger
of Lucknow, Mike White of
Huron Park and Brian
Wedlake of Exeter were
feeling a little light headed
Nov. 30 after they sacri-
ficed their hair to raise
funds for the Huron
United Way.
Wedlake's head was
shaved completely while
Biesinger and White
received brush cuts. The
three raised $1,400 in
pledges for the hair cuts,
done courtesy of Vicki
Finkbeiner of Hairlines by
Vicki.
Biesinger and White lost
22 and 20 inches of hair
respectively. Their shorn
hair was donated to Locks
of Love, a charitable orga-
nization that provides
wigs for financially -disad-
vantaged people who have
lost their hair due to ill-
ness or medical treat-
ments. Huron United Way
Executive Director Kim
Bilcke said wigs can cost
$3,000 and take six to 12
ponytails to make.
Nabisco employees have
raised more than $15,000
for the '99 United Way
campaign through payroll
. deductions. This year's
goal was $15;000 and the
company will match dol-
lar -for -dollar any dona-
tions above` $15,000,
Wedlake said:
Last year's Huron United
Way campaign was the
first for the Exeter
Nabisco plant.. With a
$10,000 goal, $21,000
from payroll and company
contributions were raised.
Nabisco Manager Terry
Bourne promised to have
his head shaved if the
employees met the fund-
raising goal. His appoint-
ment with the hair cutter
a► is Thursday at noon in the
Nabisco entranceway.
