Senior Diners was held on
Nov. 24 at the Community
centre with 120 people in
attendance.
The hall was decorated
with balloons donated by
Dawne Erb and congratu-
lation banners made by
the pupils in Mrs. Gregus
class at St. Boniface
School.
Lively music before din-
ner was provided by
Mozart Sr. and Martin
Gelinas, who had also
played at the first dinner
meeting of the Zurich
senior diners ten years
ago.
Margaret Hayter opened
the program with words of
welcome and O'Canada
and the table Grace Were
sung.
Share the wealth win-
ners were Susan Gynane,
Marilee Ayotte and Ross
Leakey. Winner of the cac-
tus plant was Ina Neeb,
the poinsettia won by
Stewart Blackwell, lucky
plate by Kay Hay.
Following the dinner
Marg Hayter read greet-
ings from Jean Young,
executive director of Town
and Country Services and
a letter of congratulations
from Dawne Erb. •
Kay Hay read a letter
from Dwayne Laporte,
reeve of Zurich, express-
ing regret that he could
not attend and extended
his congratulations on the
10th anniversary.
Susan Gynane, a former
volunteer, wished every-
one at Merry Christmas.
A welcome was extend-
ed to farmer diners who
now reside at the rest
home, and thoughts of the
diners who have passed
away were expressed.
A history of the Zurich
Dining for Seniors pro-
gram was given by
Fli7abeth Grainger.
The Huron Happy Round
Dance Group entertained
with several round dance
sets. A reading "A
Mountain Mother's letter
to her son was read by
one of the group.
Marg thanked the people
from the Exeter office and
the volunteers from Exeter
and Hensall for helping
with the meal so the regu-
lar volunteers could enjoy
the anniversary dinner.
Carnations, donated by
Zurich Flower Shop were
given to the Advisory com-
mittee by Marg Hayter.
Mozart and Martin
Gelinas played more music
as the diners prepared to
leave.

Christmas Story."

this Friday at 7 p.m.
There, people will be car
pooling to different sites
to see re-enactments of
the night Baby Jesus was
born.
Bethlehem Market,
Square will be re-enacted
at the Parkette on
Exeter's Main Street at
7:30 p.m., while.a stable
scene will be re-enacted
at the church shed at 8:30
p.m.

Zurich area residents enjoy
Christmas time parties

ZURICH - Over 100 people attend-
ed the Zurich Diner's 10th anniver-
sary at the Community Centre on
Nov. 24.
Members of the Hay Township
Telephone Co. along with their
spouses enjoyed their staff
Christmas dinner and bowling last
Friday night.
Courtney Eve Groot was baptized
at St. Boniface Church on Nov. 29
by Fr. Wronski. She is the daughter
of Joey and Julie Groot, Zurich.
A get-together was held at St.
Boniface Parish Hall for those who
helped Fr. Wronski throughout the
year at Mass. Special thanks to
council members and others who
helped with the evening and to Fr.
Wronski's niece Yolanda.
A train trip was had by Herb and
Donna Klopp. They travelled to the
Royal Winter Fair, then took the
grain to Edmonton where they visit-
ed with Ruth, Edgar and Marg
Willert. They also spent four days
on Victoria Island.
The Mission at St. Boniface
Church will be held.from Dec. 4-9.
Mass on Mon., Tues., and Wed. will
be at 9 a.m. each day with evening
lectures at 7 p.m. A healing Mass
will be said at the rest home on
Thurs. at 3:30 p.m., given by Father
McCart.
Best wishes go out to Sadi Klopp
who is a patient in Victoria
Hospital.
A special evening of music,
"Holiday Sounds of Christmas", will
be held at the Mennonite Church on
Dec. 5 from 7-9 p.m.
Tickets are $8 or $4 • for children
under 12 years of age. Call Mary -

can get them at the door.
The Women's Institute will•be
having their Christmas meeting in.
the form of a dinner at 12:30 p.m.
at the Town and Country Bowling
Lanes.
Several parents from the Zurich
area, along with students from St.
Anne's High School in Clinton,
enjoyed going to the "Coffee House"
at the school last Thursday. Plans
are well underway for the
Christmas semi -formal dance, that
. will be held on Dec ,10.
The Agricultural Society's annual
meeting will be held at the Hay
Township Hall on Dec. 1 at 6:30
p.m. beginning with a pot luck sup-
per.
A birthday supper was held on
Sunday at the home of Kim and
Mike Clarke near Kippen for
Jeanne Hay.
The family of Harold and Doreen
Dietrich (along with his brothers
and sisters) all enjoyed having their
pre -Christmas dinner and get-
together at the Dominion Hotel on
Sunday Nov. 28.
The family of Darl and Tillie Rau,
RR 2 Zurich, held their Christmas
dinner and .get-together at St.
Boniface Parish Hall on Nov. 28.
The Beavers had a scavenger
hunt at the park last week for their
meeting. Nov. 30, they had "games
night" at the Lutheran Church Hall.
They recently had a successful
apple day, raising $231.
Rose Reiger and Lee went to visit
his sister in Pittsburg on Sat.
Thersa Slack and Bernadette
Denomme, David Slack and Carolyn
went also.
