Zurich Figure Skating club news
ZURICH - Four members
of the Zurich and Area
Figure Skating Club were
able'•to try skating tests at
the recent test day at the
Exeter Figure Skating Club.
Jessica Geoffrey tried her
'Baby Blues', Jessica Hall
tried 'Fiesta', Heidi Klopp
tried 'Ten -Fox' and Megan
Gingerich tried 'Skills #4'.
All four girls passed and
are coached by Kathy
McElwain.
The next competition
Zurich will will participate
in is the Delhi Invitational
Skating competition
(DISCO) on Dec. 3-5. They
will be represented by
Heidi Klopp and Jessica
Hall.
It was especially older

coach Patty Barnett. This is
the second season for the
new CanSkate program
and Barnett is pleased with
the students' progress
through the various stages.
Some of the CanSkate
members are working on
competition solos for the
H.O.M.E. and Sweetheart
Competitions, some for the
first me.
ZFtiSC is' a small but
vibrant skating club.
Students enjoy their time
together both off and on

the ice.
For example, since
Seniors and Intermediates
skate before and after sup-
per on Tuesday nights,
their parents take turns
preparing a hot meal for
them and their family ;
members who may be at
the arena.

feel that if you are having
fun obtaining your goal,
then the end result is going
to be nothing but personal

SPORTS DIVOTS
Jr. girls exit WOSSA
ARVA — It was fun while it lasted.
The Panther junior girls basketball
team held their own and represent-
ed South Huron District High School
well but couldn't manage to escape
from the first round of WOSSA com-
petition last week at Medway High
School.
South Huron met up with the fast
and good shooting Ingersoll squad
that defeated the Panthers 55-30.
Milan Jones led the Panther attack
with 11 points with Nikki Cyr adding
10 and Kelsi VanKruistum three.'
The juniors finished the season
with a 19-7 record and are the
Huron and Huron -Perth champions.
Wrestling
season begins
HAGERSVILLE -- The
South Huron District High School
wrestling team grappled at their first
tournament .of the year in Hagersville
on Friday.
Over half of the team won medals
with the girls placing third overall.
Gold medal winners included Alicia
Laye, Matt Bell, Sisouphaah
Chansamone and Kelly Stephens.
AmandwYearley won a silver medal.
Bronze medals were earned by
Chris Oke, Jeremy Harrigan and Matt
Martin. Martin earned his medal after
wrestling seven matches in one day.
