Marilyn Carter was in charge of the baptismal service on.Sunday morn- ing at Elimville. She told the children about bap- tism and Ashley McKnight poured water in the bap- tismal font. Charlie Weber lit the Christ Candle with the assistance of Rev. Carter. The following children were baptized: Alyssa Barbara Grubb, daughter of Michael and Patti -Ann Grubb; Dylan Melvin Johns, son of Brad Johns and Kim Southcott; and Alexander Terry Gallant, son of Daniel and Ann Gallant. Marilyn Pym gave the parents a Iighted candle and a certificate. Jack Stewart read scriptures. Rev. Carter's mediation was entitled "A Sobering Thought." Barry and Diane Jeffery received the offering and were the greeters. The choir sang "There is Water in the Font" accom- panied by pianist Jean Hodgert. Flowers in the church were from the memorial service of the late Daisy Etherington. Sympathy is extended to the family. Life and work of the congregation The Property Committee is looking for volunteers for snow removal at Thames Road. If you would like to renew your Upper Room please contact Shirley Kerslake. Rev. Carter is looking for assistants to help her with Communion to shut ins during late November and early December. The International Plowing Match church ser- vice video, taped September 19 at Zurich Arena, featuring Paul Henderson and a 300 voice mass choir is avail- able at a cost of $18, tax included. To order your copy, put your name on the list posted at both churches or see Sharon Lynn by December 5. Fall schedule Nov. 28 - Thames Road, First Sunday of Advent; Dec. 3 - Progressive Christmas Story starting from Thames Road; Dec. 5 - Elimville, Second Sunday of Advent; Dec. 12 - Thames Road - Third Sunday of Advent; Dec. 19, - Elimville, Fourth Sunday of Advent, "Right Side Up Christmas" with Communion; Dec. 24 - Thames Road, 7:30 p.m. Christmas Eve Carols and Candle Service; Dec. 26 - Elimville, Service of Meditation and Reflection. On Monday nights until November 29 an adult Bible study of six videos, "Wrestling with Angels", is scheduled. This week's meeting is at Marg Stewart's home at 7:30 p.m. On November 24, volun- teers are needed to make lanterns for the Progressive Christmas Story at 7:30 p.m. at Thames Road. On Thursday evening, November 25, at Thamesview United at Fullarton, John Fields of OMAF will speak on Family Farm and Farm Stress, Consequences of the Harvest, from 8 to 9:30 p.m. The Progressive Christmas Story will be held on December 3 at 7 p.m. beginning at Thames Road Church. Please bring your Huron County Christmas Bureau gift to be presented at the last stop. Refreshments will be served at the end of the story. There will be a free will offering with proceeds going to the Mission and Service Fund. Needed for the Bethlehem Walk are any blankets, fabrics, clay pots, etc. suitable as props for the Market Place. Please drop them off at Thames Road Church by November 28. Anyone interested in taking part in the Market Place, call Carolyn Johns at 229- 6312. Anyone who wants their children's names placed in the Christmas gift exchange, made on December 22 at the Christmas concert, please contact Kathy Bray at 229- 8863 by November 28. The Christmas meeting of the Sunbeams will be held on December 2 'from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Thames Road. They will be making gingerbread men and a manger mouse. They are invited to bring a guest. They will be singing Christmas carols. Each is to bring a toonie. Personals Many people were guests at the wedding of Tom Passmore and Sue Coates on Saturday at Thames Road Church. A good crowa also attended the reception at South Huron Rec Centre, Exeter on Saturday evening. Many people called at the Hopper -Hockey Funeral Home, Exeter, and attended the funeral on. Tuesday, of the late Lorne Passmore: Sympathy of the commu- nity is extended t� his family and friends. Janice Thomson of Tavistock, Glenn and Dorothy Jeffery, Bill and Rhoda Rohde were Sunday noon guests with Clarence and Isabel Thomson of Woodham.
