Capsule Comments
with Ernie Miatello
During the cold season each year, there is
a belief that taking zinc lozenges is useful.
Zinc lozenges contain from 12 to 23 mg.
of zinc. Dissolving one in the mouth every 2-3 hours has
been shown to reduce the duration of cold symptoms by
35 to 40%. It's worth a try.
If you are looking for a good source of Vitamin A, try can-
taloupe. One cup or a six oz. slice (no skin) contains
more than the daily recommended intake of vitamin A in
the form of beta -carotene (5 mg). It also contains 68mg
of Vitamin C.
What do you do with a knocked out tooth? Best advice
is to stick it back In its socket and get to the dentist
quickly. Another approach is to put the tooth In milk and
bring it to the dentist. Milk doesn't have any harmful
bacteria in it and keeps the root tissue In good shape till
you get help.
People who use the illegal drug, cocaine, have 24 times
the risk of a heart attack in the first hour after use. This
applies to all users, even those who normally have a low
risk of heart problems.
