Many students dressed in
Halloween attire helped
the residents carve
pumpkins while they
recited Halloween poems
and songs. Lori and Mike
Masse donated pumpkins.
Corky Bedard and
friends entertained the
residents on October 28
with Don Bedard on gui-
tar and vocal, Harvey
Smith on guitar and
vocals, Bob Gilmour on
violin, Keith Haynes on
guitar, George Mathonia
on accordion and Phyllis
Deichert on piano.
The residents gathered
on Saturday afternoon for
a Halloween party in the
auditorium. The program
included Halloween histo-
ry, superstitions, mystery
guests (compliments of
staff member Debbie
Regier and resident
Carman Lovie), touch
tests with blindfolds to
guess if what they were
feeling were brains, eye
sockets, furry critters or
what, staff members
dressed in costume for a
parade.

Zurich Mennonite
Church.
Fr. Matthias Wronski,
St. Boniface Church,
Zurich has started
Catholic Sunday morning
services in the chapel at
11:15 a.m. This is in addi-
tion to the Thursday
afternoon service at 3:30
p.m. This saves volunteer
drivers escorting resi-
dents to St. Boniface or
St. Peter's on a Sunday
morning. Sunday evening
the residents enjoyed all
the ghosts and goblins
decked out in their
Halloween attire. The
trick or treaters were

dents and treats were dis-
tributed to all
The tenants of
Maplewoods Apartments
enjoyed a chili lunch with
black forest cake for
dessert at the Home on
November 1. Tenants

Helen and Lloyd
Otterbein visited over the
meal served by Auxiliary
volunteer Mary (Curtis)
Gingerich. A movie enti-
tled `Shiloh Two' was
shown in the afternoon.
Condolences go to the
family and friends of the
late Charles Ralph (Red)
Farrell who passed away
at Blue Water Rest Home
in his 92nd year. Ralph
was the husband of resi-
dent Dorothy Farrell and
funeral arrangements
were held at Grimsby.
-The Farrell's lived for
many years in Smithville.
Their c aughter Suzanne
Farrell and husband John
of Grand Bend and their
son Daniel Farrell and
�fe Jolayne of Hancock,
chigan oversee their
care at the Home.
The residents look for-
ward to the Auxiliary on
November 2, the
Auxiliary Tea and Bake
Sale on November 6 from
2 to 3:30 p.m.; and to the
Rose and Andrews
Quartet on November 7 at
2:30 p.m.
Scouting excellence
Two regional Scout leaders were honoured last week by Scouts Canada at a
Huron District Council meeting in Goderich. Laurie Kraftcheck (second from left)
and Susan Kraftcheck (middle) were given Medals of Merit in recognition of their
"beyond the call" service as leaders within the organization. Laurie Kraftcheck is a
Troop Scouter in Exeter, and Susan Kraftcheck is aVenturers' advisor as well as
the District President.The presentation, made on behalf of former Governor-
General Romeo LeBlanc, was made Wednesday night at North Street United
