Volunteer drivers needed for program
GRAND BEND - The
Grand Bend Huron Adult
Day Centre is operating at
full capacity. There is
consideration being made
to make available a sec-
ond day.
This day program is for
frail or challenged seniors
living at home. They meet
every Monday from 10
a.m. to 3 p.m. at St.
John's By The Lake to
socialize and participate
in a variety of activities.
Some of the activities for
November are a sing -a-
long and various games
such as peanut bingo,
bridge golf, horseshoes,
around the clock, floor
hockey and rebound
bowling.
Volunteer drivers are
urgently needed to pick
up clients in the morning
and take them home at 3

Children under four who develop diarrhea or
vomiting, can become dehydrated very quickly.
Signs of dehydration include decreased urina-
tion, lack of tears, dry skin, mouth and tongue
and sunken eyes. It's important to replace the fluid, salts
(electrolytes) and sugar as quickly as possible. There are rehy-
dration drinks available at the pharmacy for this purpose.
Can music have antidepressant and anti -anxiety effects?
Teaching healthy elderly people to play music helps to improve
their emotional well-being. An American -Swedish study found
that. half the persons in the study experienced a reduction in
anxiety, depression and loneliness. It's never to late to learn a

Statistics can be scary. The incidence of breast cancer in
women is 1 in 9 but that refers to the cumulative lifetime risk
for- women who live past 85. But in each decade of life, the
risk isn't close to that number. A women in her 30's has a 1 in
250 chance of breast cancer and a 1 in 77 in her 40's. Risk
does increase with age.
Artificial tears are useful for the treatment of dry eyes, a condi-
tion common as we get older. Use these drops frequently
throughout the day. If your eyes burn when you use these
drops, you may be allergic to the preservatives. There are
preservative -free drops available.

CENTRALIA - The chil-
dren of Centralia United
Church enjoyed many
Halloween activities dur-
ing the past week. In addi-
tion to the parties at
school, the theme for Fun
Night on Oct. 27 was
Halloween. Karen
Windsor and Brenda Hern
organized the entertaining
evening for the children.
On Oct. 31, the children
at Centralia United
Church, along with a few
parents, wore their
Halloween costumes to
church. Donna Smith pro-
vided special pumpkin
chocolates for the children
and cake and ice cream
for the celebration.
Later that evening, there
were lots of little trick or
treaters knocking on
doors in Centralia. The
best decorated entrance
was at °'Ontralia Variety.

6:30 p.m., and Bob
Heywood will conduct the
auction at 7:30 p.m.
Centralia United Church
will hold their annual
turkey supper Nov. 20.
There will be, a seating at
5 p.m. and another at 6:30
p.m. Tickets are $10. for
adults and $5. for chil-

Euchre results
At the euchre games
held recently at
Heywood's Restaurant,
Nola Lewis was the hid-
den score winner. The
high score winners were
Mary Scott and Gil
Northey. Anne Northey
and Howard Nolan were
the lone hand winners.
Zurich Dining for Seniors activities
ZURICH - The Zurich
Senior Diners met on Oct.
20 with an attendance of
31.

50/50 draw was won by
Lloyd Otterbein. Francis
Ayotte and Tony

Down who spoke on
Alzeimers and some of the
research that is being
done.
