Last week Exeter Chrysler donated a.'98 Plymouth Breeze to South Huron District High School's transporta-

Chrysler's technicians are SHDHS graduates and Wonnacott said he has taught four Exeter Chrysler techni-
cians. Dawe recently won the '99 Chrysler Master Technician Challenge recognizing him as the Mer
technician in Ontario. Students will use the car to learn about automobile electronics and computer systems.
Wonnacott said the program is in high demand, adding the vehicle wiN get a lot of use — the prior car had its
thermostat taken out and replaced 86 times per. sernester.The Breeze is .the second:vehicle Exeter Chrysler

Grand Bend rents out
two properties
GRAND BEND — Village
council passed four
bylaws at Monday , night's
meeting initiated by dis-
cussions at previous
meetings.
The bylaws will result in
the following actions.
• There will be no. park-
ing on Sauble River' Road
on either side for the
entire length of the road
at any time.
• Vaino Einola will lease
a portion of land abutting
Lot 33, Plan 9 for $10 per
year for 20 years. Under
the agreement, Einola
will landscape the proper-
ty to a park -like use and
will pay the costs of a sur-
vey for the property.
• The Grand Bend &
District Optimist Club will
lease Eighty One Crescent
parkette from the village.
The village will continue
to maintain the park in a
clean and tidy condition
and provide grass cutting
and garbage removal.
The club requested the
lease to help it secure
grants to renovate the
park.
• An agreement with the
Ontario Clean Water
Agency (OCWA) paves the
way for the village to
demolish the beach house
facility. OCWA owns a
room within the beach
house that houses a gen-
erator. Prior to demoli-
tion, the generator will be
moved.
$2,500 to Stephen
Twp. arena
Grand Bend will donate
$2,500 to the Stephen
Twp. arena renovation
project with the funds
coming from the 1999
surplus.

Huron council moves
to cut membership
GODERICH — Huron
County council has set a
date for the public to have
their say on a new pro-
posed smaller council
after Huron municipal
mergers take plat(
The public meeting is
set for Nov. 4, 11 a.in., at
the Goderich Court
House.
The existing county
council is comprised of
the reeves of all 26 Huron
municipalities including
representatives from
Exeter, Hensall, Zurich
and the. surrounding
townships. Council uses a
weighted vote system
where each member has
one vote per 1,000 elec-
tors to a maximum of four
votes.

change county council

representation so the
head of each municipality
after local amalgamations
sits as a county council
member with extra mem-
bers coming from munici-
palities on the basis of
each additional 4,000
electors. The change
would reduce county
council to 18 members
and scrap the weighted
vote system.

written or verbal repre-
sentation in support or
against the proposed
change.
