First meet of die season
for the Huron: Hurricanes
WOODSTOCK - The
Huron Hurricanes made
it into the medal stand-
ings in their first swim
meet of the season.
Eleven members of the
Hurricanes competed Oct.
16 at the Piranhas of,
Woodstock swim meet.
In the 15 and over divi-
sion, Sarah Datema took
gold in the 100 m back-
stroke with a time of
1:16.41. She also took
third in the . 200 m
freestyle and fifth in the
50 m freestyle. Scott
McNichol placed second
in the 100 m breaststroke
and 12th in the 100 m
backstroke and 50 m
freestyle. Jason Brown
placed seventh in the 200
m freestyle and 13th in
the 100 m backstroke and
50 m freestyle..
In the age 13-14 divi-
sion, Meghan Morris took
first place in the 50 m
freestyle with a time of
30.34. Meghan Lee placed
eighth in both the 200 m
freestyle and 100 m back-
stroke.. Laurie
Vandendool took 10th
place in the 100 m
freestyle race and 12 in
the 50 m freestyle.
Kellyann Vandendool
placed 13th in the 100 m
freestyle and 14th in the
50 m freestyle. Susie
Miner placed second in
the 100 m breaststroke
and third in the 200 m
freestyle.
In the 10 and under
division, Valerie Otten
won gold in the 100 m
backstroke, silver in the
50 m freestyle and bronze
in the50 m backstroke.
Melonie McCann took sec-
ond place in the 100 m
backstroke, fourth in the
50 m freestyle and fifth in
the 50 m backstroke. Matt.
Miner placed first in the
50 m backstroke and 100
m backstroke.
The team will be com-
peting next weekend in
the Victor Davis meet at
Wilfrid Laurier, Waterloo.

goalie has pro experience. "We just had a few breakdowns (since) the guys aren't used to playing together
yet." Philips, a former Lucan jr. D Irish player who last year shared in the all -Ontario title, is a welcome new
addtion to the Sherwoods thoughTimmermans admitted he's still looking for a couple defencemen.
