Forward Shawn Sherwood broke his col- larbone while blocking a shot during Friday night's game, the 99-2000 home opener at South Huron Rec Centre. Exeter lost 5- 3. Exeter got on the board first with 2:29 left in the first period when Ben McCann stepped up from the blueline to the slot to beat Seaforth goalie Marty Frayne. Assists wept to Jeremy Geoffrey and Andy MacEachern. Seaforth tied the game at less than two minutes into the second period. Exeter regained the lead less than three minutes later when Jason Mandarelli scored from Nick Regier and Christian Stuckless. Seaforth tied the game again with 2:19 left in the period. The visitors took the lead they would never relinquish three minutes into the third period and padded it with another goal to make it 4-2 less than three minut#aser. Exeter got to within one goal when Jaakko Heikkinen scored from Jarrett Jeffrey while on the powerplay with 7:41 left. Seaforth put the game out of reach by scoring on an empty net with 46 sec- onds left. Hawks coach Andy Friyia said his team played good enough to win but Frayne simply stopped Exeter when he had to. The shots on goal were 46-39 for Exeter. "We took them for granted," Friyia said, adding they paid too much attention to the pre- season and first regular season games Seaforth lost. Since then Seaforth has added some key play- ers including Frayne. Exeter •kat 5-1 to Maid Brydges on Sunday. The visitors bulk a 4-0 past the mid -point of the third period before Mandarelli could put the Hawks on the board with assists going to Berton Dykstra and Jeremy VanBergen. Mount Brydges scored three powerplay goals and threw 46 shots at Hawks goalie Ryan 011son. Exeter had 41 shots but couldn't beat the Bulldog backstop more than once. Exeter's record is 3-5. Friyia said the Hawks will work on team discipline .,andrapasheiPtegmaa before tonight's game at Belmont and Friday's home game versus Lucan at 8:30 p.m. Stick save.
