As pharmacists, we are always hoping for good
clinical trials on herbal products. Researc
at the Universities of Alberta and B.C. are dol
trials on echinacea to determine its effectiveness in boosting
the immune system and fighting the common cold. Results
should be available by January 2000.
There's a lot of work being done on different ways of delivering
insulin to diabetics. Besides an insulin nasal spray which may
be available in a couple of years, work is being done on an
insulin fah which delivers sustained quantities of insulin
through the skin without 8 needier. Research is in the rat stage
right now.
Many people have benefitted from new antidepressants that
have come on the market during the past decade. One thing to
remember if you've been on these drugs for awhile, don't stop
taking them cold -turkey. Some withdrawal effects can occur.
Check with your doctor before stopping gny drug.
