Halloween party planned
forThames Road children

ROAD CORRESPONDENT
THAMES ROAD - The Thanksgiving
church service was held on Sunday
morning at Elimville. The church was
decorated with a horn of plenty filled
with vegetables, fruit, corn, pumpkins,
and mums.
Rev. Marilyn Carter was in charge of
the service. She read the call to worship
and litany of Thanks. After the creed,
the Christ Candle was lit and the Sunday
School students did a skit. Marilyn
Vandenbusche played the organ. The
title of the sermon was "Thanks".
Robert and Jessica Bray received the
offering as well as being the greeters.
After church the Sunday School had a
Tree of Thanks and a Sukkah Tent and
also served lunch.
Work and Life of the Congregation
On Sunday, October 17, the regular
church service will be at Thames Road
at 10 a.m.
On Thursday, October 21, Messengers
will be held at Elimville from 7-8 p.m.
Bring a loonie.
On Thursday, October 21, the South
Huron Rally of the U.C.W. will be held at
Crediton United Church.
Monday, October 25 to Monday,
November 29, Monday nights only,
"Wrestling with Angels", an adujt bible
study of six videos. The first meeting
will be at the home of Ann Kernick at
7:30 p.m. If interested please contact
Rev. Carter, Janet Coward, Ann Kernick
or Karen Etherington.
On Friday, October 29, the Sunbeams/
Messengers Halloween Party will be
held in the Thames Road Church base-
ment at 6:30 p.m. Please bring pot luck
finger food. Refreshments provided.
Prizes for best costumes. Everyone wel-
come, bring a friend. Treat bags for the
kids.
On Friday, November 12, the Finance
Committee's Time, Talent and Treasure
Auction will be held at Kirktoi
Woodham Community Centre. Viewing
from 6:30-7:30 p.m. with auction to fol-
low. Pledge forms are available at the
back of the church.

Marjorie Johns, Doris Elford, Bill and
Rhoda Rohde attended the horticulture
meeting at Kirkton Woodham
Community Centre on Tuesday evening.
Tom Hayman of London spoke and
showed pictures of "Birds in their Secret
Places".
A number of women attended the
meeting of the Caven ladies to hear
about Guatemala.
Jean Maston of the Toronto area -is vis-
iting with her sister and husband
Murray and Beatrice Dawson of Grand
Bend.
Donna Van Allen, Rachel Tyler and
Sarah of Cross Hill visited with Margaret
Stewart, Donna's mother.
Dan and Anne Gallant and baby son of
London spent the holiday weekend with
her parents Fred and Bev Delbridge.
Dave and Sharon Passmore were
Sunday supper guests with Gordon and
Myrtle Pengelly of Belgrave.
Carol Hodgert of Toronto spent the
holiday weekend with her cousins
Arnold and Marion Cann.

W.I. tours
EXETER - The Sept.
meeting of the Hurondale
W.I. was held at the
Community Living Centre
in Dashwood. Members
were served a variety of
pies biked in their
kitchen. A tour of the
facility 'took place, show-
ing members the "Bird's
Nest Tea Room" and
"Country Cupboard" both
open to the public, where
all the baked goods and
handmade crafts are
sold.
President Fern Dougall
opened the business por-
tion of the meeting with
the Institute Ode and the
Mary Stewart Collect.
Several upcoming events
were discussed and dates
to remember are: Wed.,
Oct. 20 - Creative
Leadership workshop at
OMAFRA in Clinton;
Thurs., Oct. 29 - W.I.
Convention in Mt.
Brydges and Tues., Nov.
2 - a craft workshop
being held in Hensall.
Thanksgiving food drive. Hensali Public School student council members dis-
play 440 pounds of food the school's students donated last week. Standing, from

Ritchie and Amber Kehn are seated in front with the grocery bags students deco-
rated and used to bring in the donations.The food was sent to the Blessings food
bank in Zurich.The school will hold another food drive before Christmas.
Blue Water residents meet their buddies
ZURICH - The residents
of Blue Water Rest Home
enjoyed the video "Mr.
Bean" on Sept. 27. The
new Grade 5 class at St.
Boniface School Zurich,
met their resident buddy
on Sept. 28. The student
buddy introduced them-
selves to the resident
buddy with a collection of
pictures and a booklet on
their strengths and weak-
ness, plus a poster with
their picture for a door
hanging. The 27 students
took a tour of the facility.
Both student and senior
benefit from the program.

lage to ensure the resi-
dents survive the win-
ter.
The meeting closed
with a "Share the
Wealth Draw of $104.
Half of the draw
money goes to the
member and half goes
to the Golden Agers
account.

on Thursday morning,
the summer winners
were: First, Sien Smits;
Second, Lou Hamilton;
and Third, Carl Rood.

Conservative Mennonite
Choir gathered in the
auditorium to sing four
part harmony gospel
songs for the residents.

serve refreshments.
Thursday evening the
residents listened to Guy
Lambardo, Lawrence
Welk, and Mitch Miller
from a collection of 33's
in the front lounge.
Friday was 'Honey Day'
at the home with a wide
selection of honey prod-
ucts provided by
Ferguson Apiaries. Cliff
Jardine, Beatrice Rader,
Harry Maas, Clarence
Gascho and Philippa
Steckle were escorted to
Zurich Mennonite Church
for Sunday service by vol-
unteer driver Cliff
Gingerich. The residents
watched morning service
on the T.V. screen.
Monday afternoon, for
those unable to attend the
special service at the
Zurich Community Centre
held by the International
Plowing March, they Were
able to watch the service
on video.
Condolences to the fam-
ily and friends of the late
Clara Amanda Klopp who
passed away at South
Huron Hospital, Exeter on
Sept. 30 in her 93rd year.
Clara, a lady well known
in the Zurich area was a
resident at the home for
less than six weeks and a
good close neighbour to
the home.
A welcome wish to
Arthur Oral Cann of
Exeter. Arthur joins his
wife Bernice at the home.
The residents look for-
ward to the Auxiliary
entertainment and a bus
trip for the men to
