Queensway residents prepare for craft sale HENSALL Queensway Volunteer Auxiliary met Monday morning and the annu- al craft and bake sale to take place Oct. 27 was the number one topic on the agenda. In the afternoon staff enjoyed a potluck wel- coming the new direc- tor of Care Christina Taylor and her assis- tant Cathy McClure on board. Residents ben-- fited from bingo wit,. the Hensall UCW. Tuesday church ser- vice was led by Rev. Kevin Rutledge of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Exeter. In the evening the Christian Reformed Singers gave a beauti- ful sacred music pro- gram. Some staff and volun- teers Edna Deitz and Betty Simmons attend- ed the seminar with D. Peter St. George Hyslop sponsored by the Huron County Alzheimer Socioty and learned about the most recent research. There was excellent attendance at the Thursday movie about "Babe" the .pig_.. Everyone found it very entertaining. On Friday residents and staff alike attended a new program, when every- one stopped what they were doing at 2 p.m. and enjoyed a coffee and donut and conver- sation together for 15 minutes. Later in the afternoon Nancy Young assisted residents at baking group. Volunteers at Day Centre By Mary Pearson CEMEAUesamizatima CEPTi'RALIA - Centralia U.C.W. met on October 7. Iva Blair began the meeting with a poem entitled 'Than sagiviving'. Marian Abbott announced that the South U.C.W. Fall Rally will be held October 21 at Crediton United Church at 6:30 p.m. The theme for the rally is 'Tell Us the Story' with Heather Scott as the guest story teller. Everyone is requested to wear their favourite nightie, pyjamas or nightshirt or boxers and to bring a children's storybook or teddy bear. Participants are also asked to read Psalm 90 and Genesis 29 and 30 before the rally. Each U.C.W. member was asked to submit fundraising ideas. Audrey McFalls, Marian Abbott, Donna Smith, Madalene Tasko and Kay Tripp volunteered to form a committee to assess the various suggestions. For the Clu istinas meeting, Group I will be in charge of the program and Group II will provide the dinner. Iva Blair began the evening's program with a poem entitled 'A Thankful Song'. Audrey McFalls read scrip-. tures and Marian Abbott led a prayer. The reading,`Just Remember It's Thanksgiving' was given by Audrey McFalls. Guest speaker Edna Millke told about her work as a volunteer at the Huron Adult Day Centre. She has been a volunteer driver for six years, and makes crafts with the groups twice each month. Her craft items use what- ever is on hand, such as scrap material, wood and plas- tic. She also quilts and she displayed many of her crafts. She told the group that volunteers are needed to assist. Pumpkin pie was served by Etta Powe, Adeline Elliott, Mary Smythe and Madalene Tasko. Upcoming activities Centralia United Church will celebrate their anniver- sary on October 17. Worship will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friends of the church, including congregation members from Zion, are invited to participate in the worship ser- vice. The guest musician will be Leona McBride. The Session also invites everyone to stay for lunch following the service. Euchre results The High Hand winners at Larry's Restaurant in Crediton recently were Lillian Baynham and Walter Weber.
